Ok, so what do u guys think if someone planned the perfect murder in this day and age, do u think u would get caught? I mean with today's technology as they say, do u think u would get caught, if u think the whole idea up and plan everything 2 the T?
Just thinking, LOL yes very cooky here. And bored, trying 2 get a thread going.
There is the whole Locard's Exchange Principle that means you always leave something and you always take something away. No matter what you did, there really be no way of getting away with it. There are too many factors that would have to be put in consideration and you would never be able to count on every isngle variable out there. There will always be evidence that tell on you. Its just a fact of life.
So the answer to your question would be in my mind, no.
Your CSI shows and their like are all bull shit (sorry bama). Sure the technology may be there, but it's only as good as the people using it and in particular collecting the evidence. Sadly, there are a lot of yahoos in the police force who will easily mess up a crime scene - trust me, your rural police are frequently in way over their heads.
It also depends on who the target is. If it's someone considered "important" then a much more thorough investigation will be done than if the victim is some random unknown junkie or something - it's just a fact. If the victim is really alone in the world, no home, no job, no family... no one may ever even realize that the person was murdered. Also, getting arrested for something is a WHOLE different story than getting convited of it; just look at OJ.
Lastly, planning is about the surest way of getting caught. Totally random murders are the ones that are rarely solved. Look at the serial killers who operated for many years before getting caught - or never being caught. Many have operated without even the slightest of suspicion for years and years.
I know CSI is bull shit. But it is entertaining. And I can watch i and say "oo, they did that wrong and that wrong and hat wrong and...
I'm going to school for crime scene technology so I will be collecting evidence and solving the crimes. (just in case ya'll forgot). I graduate in Decmeber too. So you law breakers better watch out.
And Carmen I think I miht have to put you on my list now, since oyu brought this whole thing up.
I'll agree with you on the importance factor of the victim Daniel.
I think it can be done and yes there are many factors that will stand out there to be investigated with our technology now. But, if you can somehow really make it an occorance that wouldn't be looked at as suspicious. A natural phenomenon...animal attack, storm injury, death etc....but you'd have to be damn good to beat out a lie detector test. I've had them before when interviewing for emergency dispatch jobs and I can tell you right now...that damn thing can look down into your psyce! Even if you didn't do something outright that was illegal, if your conscience thinks it would fall into that mix, then it can find it.
With all of the illnesses out there that occur naturally and are new and very virulent - there has to be some ways. Heck - look at EEE - you can get it from a mosquito and you won't even know it for days or weeks, and it's killing people here in New England.

LOL u guys r silly, I was just thinking about this stuff 'cause I was bored, and Bama?? I don't wanna be on your list, boo hoo. I wanna be on your good list.
well you could always make friends with someone who owns a pig farm. A pig can consume two pounds of the human body per minute, they digest everything but the teeth and you can't get DNA from pig poop. That's what I learn in school.

I'm sure that info is going to help you somewhere down the line.
