Yup, Got the ax today. Wasn't unexpected though. Got a nice little package of pay and benefits for the next nine months. Thinking of going back to school for awhile. I don't know yet. I'm sure I'll get bored soon . Been working 30 yrs now so a little relaxation will be nice!
You dont sound to down about it, so I'll take that as you are okay with it. Nine months of relaxation, wow. But I tell ya. I got laid off some years ago, but got a nice severance package. You know how you always wish if you had the time and money wasnt an issue how youd just go crazy? Well that was me. I got canned, got a severance package and money was no issue.
Well I traveled around for about two weeks, went to Florida for a week, came back then automated and digitized the church sound system. Then I went on a cleaning spree through my apartment at the time. Caught up on all the movies I hadnt seen up to that point. After about a month, maybe, MAYBE five weeks, I was bored senseless. I was begging for something to do.
Moral of the story? I know now if I ever won the lottery I would have to continue to work or volunteer somewhere full time just to occupy my time. Waking up and not having any concerns about money would be really nice, but waking up with nothing to do would drive me to give it all away just so I would have to get a job

Well it sounds like you are carrying the right attitude about it and as you siad, it wasnt unexpected so you had time to get ready for it. Good luck with finding a new job but hey, you got yourrself 9 months to do all thsoe things that you never had time for before.. enjoy it and then get your ass back to work!!!

Hang in there Rick - I wish I had some sort of severance from when I had to leave due to my violent ex-husband. I was unemployed for 9 months and it was killing me.
We've known this was due to happen though...you've got the right attitude...keep your chin up and bust tail on that amsoil business. I tell you, if I had more capital and more time avail. to work on it, I'd be hustling every local garage and throwing flyers on all the cars in every parking lot out there.
I've also come up with an idea for next year and some serious advertising for DFBozz. Race fans, keep your eyes open, I'll leave it at that.
