So this mornign I went home to my parents house to take out my rear strut bar. I didn't notice that much difference in the handling and I could use the money so I was taking it out. Anyways.. I open the hatch and water starts to pour out of the hatch... like where the latch is when you close it.. I was liek WTF!!! so then I felt the carpet.. soaked! Chris pulled out the sub box and I took out the carpet which, is one.) too small for the car bc it shrunk from the water 2.) is water logged like you wouldnt believe and 3.) is falling apart and starting to smell from the water.

Next I looked down in the bottom of the trunk after the carpet was out and saw there was water in where the spare tire is... great... took the tire and jack out.. there must have been two-three inches of water EASILY...

I took the strut bar out as planned and then got on the phone with Ford. My car is still under warranty so I wasnt worried about that part. My problem was that I wasnt going to drive around for two days until monday to bring the car in with two inches of water sloshing around in the back of the car. no t hanks.

The guy that I always deal w ith at Ford was really nice and told me to bring the car up. The willingly gave me a rental car at thier expense until Tuesday. So i'm not driving a 2004 Bonneville with a whole boat load of power compared to my wee lil foci as pitchblack would say. This car has incredible handling and great response time. I haven't been able to hit up the highways yet, might do that tomorrow though ;)

Just my two cents on a rental. Don't care for driving a car this big.. have never really like the big c ars.. buts its sure better than being without a car for at least 4 days. I'll keep you posted on what they find out is wrong with my car.

My wife had a '94 Bonnie. It was a great car. Didn't handle very well, but it had plenty of power/speed, and it was way beyond good in the snow. I liked it a lot.

Well after spending alittle more time witht he car tonight. I discovered that its really fun to drive. You press the gas pedal.. and boy let me tell ya, YOU'RE GOING TO MOVE!!!  One of the roads that I take to get home isnt in that great of conditioin but i feel like the suspension and handling of this larger car is very well suited for the price tag. More fun to come tomorrow im sure :)

of course you notice it has "balls". Im mean your comparing it to a focus, two different leauges.

as for the size, i love big cars, so much more fun to drive. i think my lexus is too small, but ive learnt to deal.

Anyways, enjoy the power while you have!

If you have a ZX3, I think you do right? Also another I have heard is that the hatchbacks are notorius not only for the weather stripping going bad, but the hatches have been know to be out of alignment which would let water in as well.

I would like to think that weather stripping should last more than a little over a  year.  If its that simple.. good.. a quick fix.. but i dont know..

WEll, heres the update on my car.

Ford told me that the water was coming in through the tail lights. And he asked me if I had swapped them out recently. I lied to cover my own butt and said yes about 4 months ago... when really its only been like a month maybe?!?! Anywyas.. they told me that everytime the lights were taken off the car they need to be resealed???? I was never aware of this. I have changed tail lights on this car three times now and have never had a problem. I didn't think of this when I was on the phone but, when I had opneed the hatch the water came out of there... the tail lights and the hatch have nothing to do with eachother, so how can this be?!?!?! I think that the water is really coming in somewhere else.. now I just need to try and figure out where myself... might need to go to the car wash and play in the cold  :(

The lights and the hatch have something to do with eachother. WHen you open the hatch up the lights are RIGHT THERE on both side. I can see water gettin in there.
Didnt Chelly have the same thing going on with her car and the Euros?? Shouldnt be a hard fix... just need to re-seal them like they said.
No worries there lady... and dont go playing in the cold with water. If that is the case and its going to be under freezing for the next 2 days thats going to cause more harm than good. Water gets up in there, freezes, expands... stuff is gonna start to crack and break :(

Tiff... Remember you held the hose while I looked for leaks. I did fing a leak remember. And than Chris let me use some silicone to reseal allignment hole at the top of the light.

I was also going to mention the changing of your lights, but ford beat me to it.

So are you getting all new interior peices?????

If its not to late you changed the lights 4 months ago because "they broke";):D

They are being really good to me and I am gettin a new carpet. Not to mentin they fixed the tail light. I dont think they are right though, I still think there is a leak somewhere else .... ther eis no reason that the hatch itself should have had as much water in it when i opened it. Maybe that isn't clear.. nto the hatch.,. the hatch door had the water in it.. does that make sense?

Same issue I had Tiff.

You'd be amazed at how much water came out of my hatch/spare well because of those tiny little holes where the pegs go for my tails.

Since the last round of silicone - Nada - dry as ever

I meantioned this to Tiff as well. Isnt that a terrible design though. i mean you have to take the whole unit out, to change a bulb. Does ford expect you to make a new seal when a bulb blows out?

He's a tech and she's a chick and that's why...DUH!;ohno
J/K - Condensation can always be a contributing factor to a blown bulb, not to mention the life span of them...some just do "burn out".

Ugh...some places annoy the crap right out of me!
