keepin it American. Bought a 99 Dodge Stratus. 88.5K miles, dark green, power everything. unfotunately it has hubcaps and a tape deck. :( oh well, the thing is p[retty awesome. drives nice and handles smoothly. Unfortunately the FM tuner on the radio has gone south. so I just gave the car the only mod its getting, a new cd player. pics tomorrow. :D

Be careful with the heads on those cars if it's a 4 cyl. My wife had one (before we were together) and she overheated it once and the head was toasted beyond belief!:gofast

yeah its the 4. overheating and roasting the head is a commen consequence on many cars. the SPI motor (focus, escort) will drop a valve seal and destroy the head AND pistons. so far so good. fans work, coolent is holding, and the thermo pops.

she loves the car, although she hasnt driven it yet. (she hasnt driven in like 7 years so she needs to practice a little) I like it better than the focus, if it werent for my turbo project I might consider trading it in. lol.

yeah I like it alot. unfortunately I joind the stratusphere and now Im reading about all the head gasket problems on the 2.4. ;bigcry

I'm gonna do a compression test this weekend and poke around with a flashlight to see if its leaking oil out the back of the head. havent seen any coolent/oil mix thank god. I could upgrade to the new MLS gasket but it might already have it (if the gasket has already blown once). but if its sealed fine then Im not touching it untill it gives me a reason to.
