My husband sold this guy some stuff, I shipped it out personaly through UPS at my work. He received it okay but he's saying that what he received isn't in good condition.. or something like that? It was an MPFI swap (multipoint fuel injection) that was originaly listed on Ebay but the auction was pulled and the guy just paid through paypal.
Now if everything was sold "as is" is there anything he can do about it? My husband always double checks everything before he ships it out and I know it was all in good condition.
What can he do through paypal? The only items listed under the payment through paypal are "
payment for ecu+dist+manifold"
And the email I just received from the dude says "Hi, I don’t know if you got the last email I sent you where I tell you that the injectors don’t fit the plug you gave me and the fuel rail has a leak...please replay I want to resolve this without contacting paypal, since that’s what I used to pay for the items.thanks."
Obviously I don't want to screw the guy over, but I know everything was in good condition. And just to note- his last email was only last night. My husband is working 10-12 hour days and hadnt replied to it yet it's not like he/we're trying to avoid him or anything.
Any suggestions?

when i pruchase things on ebay or a forum of any sort, i always assume that the item is sold in "AS IS" condition, aka, you want it, you got it.  some guy sold me a TB for my car last spring, wrong one, but he posted the right one for sale...needless to say he wouldnt give my money back.  so i sold it to the correct car owner.  then again, a lot of people dont use logic either/think the same way.  good luck with everything

So what would paypal do if he filed a complaint with them? I mean, we provided the items as promised and have a tracking number.
And what is paypal's seller protection policy? I saw that this particular item is eligible but it didn't really tell what it all was?

It sounds like the guy will try to get the charges reversed if somthing isn't done to his liking. If everything was working fine when you shipped it and it doesn't now tell him to contact the shipper for "broken in transit" or somthing. If he doesn't still have the box or the box is not damaged the shipper may not do anything. Also remind him he bought it "used - as is". Was the part working for you? did you even use it? Also never pull an item off ebay because someone wants to deal dirrectly with you. Either tell them to wate and bid or revize the item with a buy it now or relist if auction ended.

All I can say is let the guy know if it was working or not when you had it and possible offer to help him fix it or somthing. He needs to know it was sold as is with no warranty. Either somthing happened in shipping or he is trying to pull a fast one on you.

I would email him back explaning the 10-12 hour days your husband has and he will get back to the guy as soon as he can. Kinda be a relay messenger to let the guy know your not blowing him off. Mention you can't get back to him till the weekend when your husband is off work, or somthing like that.

I wasn't the one who made the decision to pull anything off of Ebay. I am just always the one who gets stuck checking everything over, packaging everything up and shipping it out. I don't even get the money for it lol.
I'm pretty sure my husband had this on one of his (many) cars and it worked fine.
I will email him right now letting him know about the delay.
Seeing as how the parts he claims aren't working aren't even listed on the paypal receipt/payment, would paypal even do anything?

i would think (and hope) that the only hing they would do is to refund his money and not take it away from your account..this is why i keep from a lot of e-business, for laziness in not wanting to deal with problems such as this.

I believe the only way PayPal can do anything is if he purchased buyer protection available when they check out for a fee based on the selling price.  They may contact you stating that they have been contacted over the situation, but I dont think (dont quote me) they can do anything.

Ive purchased all of my photography gear (about $3k's worth) on ebay with the exception of the very first camera I bought and Ive always purchased the buyer protection everytime.  Its more or less insurance that the seller will not only ship the item, but it will be in the condition described.  If I were to not recieve an item or it was damaged or something along those lines I can contact PayPal and they will intervene on my behalf.

Without the buyer protection I dont have a leg to stand on.  So unless this guy purchased that there isnt much that he will accomplish by contacting PayPal.  While I certainly appreciate your integrety and desire to make things right, sveet03 is correct in stating unless the seller makes a specific claim to the condition of the item being sold it should be assumed the purchase will be as 'as is' and final.  It is the buyers responsibility to check out everything that needs to be researched and checked.

That all being said, I typically hold funds in my PayPal accound for about a week or so until the transaction is complete when I sell things depending on the item sold just for such a reason.  That way if there is a dispute and a refund was in order (though I have never had to refund anything) it comes from my PayPal account first.  Something of a buffer if you will.

Good luck.

Ebay can be tricky.

last  year I sold a laptop on ebay. For the first time I decided to ship out of the US, and that was the last night. The buyer paid through paypal with a credit card. Everything went through, I took the money from my paypam account and then paid off the laptop with HP ( it was new.. long story)

About a week later I went to go buy something for my car, logged into paypal and my balance was at negative 11 hundred dollars. I NEVER WAS CONTACTED before this happened. Paypal did nothing for me, I was now without the laptop and was required to pay back paypal the 11 hundred within 120 days.

At the end of the 120 days, I had no where near that amount of money ( however I did get the laptop back and resold it) I had filed suit with paypal saying I was not to be held responsible for someone else's wrong doing. It settled in my favor the day before the 120 days was up and my paypal balance was set to 0.00.

All I can say is talk things out with the guy, reason with him... I dont think anything willl happen even if he does contact paypal.... best of luck to you , let us know how it turns out!

This is what he sent to him last night. I'm just going to wait and see what my hubby does I guess.

Did you reuse the washers on the fuelrail that connect to the fuelline? There called "crush washers" and you need to use new ones everytime you take of the fuelline from the fuelrail to ensure a good seal. As for the injectors. They are the injectors that came right off my z6 that go with the intake manifold. I can send you older injectors if you want or send you a newer injector connectors to go along with the z6/obd1 injectors? Sory bout the inconvience. Just let me know what you want and I'll send you whatever you want. Also include your address again. Thanks
Henry
