This weekend I'll be trying to convince Sherri to let me take $2000 out of my IRA (since I can't get a loan (see my post in the rant room)).

Why do I need $2000? I found a wrecked Focus ZX3 nearby, the guy wants $1500. The other $500 will go towards a radiator, lights and a windshield. Then I just need to save the money to get fenders, a hood and a front bumper (I could probably get that stuff with the money I get from selling the Protege).

Wish me luck on convincing her that this is a good idea. I won't do it without having her support. But I want this car!

I want back in the family!

I just figured it out: $2500 and I'll have a perfect Focus... Fiberglass fenders, new bumper, radiator, projectors, windshiled and grille...

Grrrr I hope this works!

I sat down and figured it out... the Focus has way more pros than cons... and the Protege has the opposite. The Focus, even though it's wrecked, requires less work than the Protege does! Well, tomorrow, we're gonna sit down and talk, and then I'll call my bank and get the money sent to me, then I'll go get the new Focus most likely next Friday or the following Tuesday.

Project FocusFast II is officially a go. The woman is still a little iffy, but I think she's realized that it's a better step in the long run.

I'm not going to count my chickens until I actually have the car though. I still have to wait (very impatiently) for the paperwork to go through and the money to be deposited in my bank account, then for a day off so I can haul it home.

WOOOOHOOOO!

Personaly, I will never touch my 401K again, but if you think this is the right choice for you and will not shortchange you in the long run, good luck in getting your Focus!

Well, this wasn't my direction of choice, but I'll be paying off some old bills too. I really feel this will be a good move in the long run.

Good luck.

This past weekend I came across an 03 Sedan Zetec with 17K. Wrecked for $4995. Needs 2 fenders, pass headlight, front bumper & wrap, pass headlight, rad support, hood latch, pass front door & maybe 1 rim. Talk them down a bit and could have a $6000 low milage 03... They are out there.

Yeah. I figured I'll have ~$2500-3000 invested and have a low mileage 2001 ZX3, done up just the way I want.

Buying a wrecked car is definately the way to go if you're capable of rebuilding, or if you want a car built a specific way.
