Please help...
ok, I'm not asking for much, but just a simple email or letter from each of you.
I received this in the mail from one of the places I donate to, IDA In Defense of Animals.
All you have to do is send a letter or email to the ambassador of Korea to stop the trade in dog and cat meat. These animals are being tortured and then eaten.
Just type that you urge them to enforce existing laws prohibiting the trade in dog and cat meat. Here is the info:

Ambassador Hong, Seok-Hyun
Embassy of the Republic of Korea
2450 Massachussetts Ave. , NW
Washington, D.C. 20008
Tel: (202) 939-5600
Fax: (202) 797-0595
E-Mail: korinfo@koreaemb.org

&

Korean National Tourism Organization
One Excutive Dr., Ste.100
Fort Lee, NJ 07024
Tel: (201) 585-0909
Toll Free: 1-800-TOUR-KOR (EA)
Fax: (201) 585-9041
E-Mail: ny@kntoamerica.com

Also please try to be adult about this, none of this little joking crap, I like hot dogs and psoting the puppy in the bun. This is real crap happening, some of you own these dogs and cats being killed and eaten. Thank you for anyone that volunteers.
Also doesn't matter if your in Canada or anywhere in the U.K , wherever the more people contacting them, the better.
Thank you.

P.S. If you have nothing nice to say, then don't say it. Some of you know how deeply I am into animal welfare, animal cruelty topics. Thank you again.

The unfortunate situation here is that it's not just this country.

China as well as many other countries deal in what we consider 'domisticated companion animals' for food and fur.  German Shepards as well as many other large breeds are bred, grown to a certain age/size and then slaughtered for their fur.

St. Bernards are bred like cattle and then slaughtered for their meat.

It is a horrible tragity that I have cried and cried about, but I do what I can when I can to help.

The largest problem here is that these people/countries don't see this as cruel...they see it as food.  A way to earn income and in many cases live.

It is barbaric to us as citizens here in the US & Canada, but it is a reality that has been going on for centuries.

I will do what I can for you Carmen.

I can tell you after spending five years in South Korea they indeed like thier dogs and cats.  The problem such a campaign might run into though is that that type of meat is part of their culture and way of life.  Ive been in the big cities of Korea and in the farm lands and its just part of thier life, at least it was when I was there.

I dont necessarily agree with it, but thats what they do.  I wish you the best, just be aware there is a culture component to this to deal with too.

The eating of animals we considered "strange" or pets is one thing, I definitely agree that cultures can have very different ideas of good cuisine.

What's Not acceptable, under any circumstances, for any "food animal" from a cow to a cat, is torturing or brutalizing them before they are sacrificed for food. That's completely unneccesary and inhumane no matter what country or culture is doing it.

agreed torture is bad, and I can't see myself eating my little J.R. (kitty) but who am I to say you can't eat something if that is acceptable in your culture.  I eat cows, and pigs, and chickens, and lamb occasionally.  Do I consider that bad no, I think it's culturally acceptable, I do however disagree with torture before they go into the food chain.  Just because I look at a cat as a pet, and someone else looks at it as a burger, doesn't mean I disagree.  I know people who have pigs for pets, but I still like my bacon.
