according to this, i'm gothic.. let me show you all what it means to be "goth" through the eyes of catholisism:

-Frequently wears black clothing.
-Wears band and/or rock t-shirts.

-Shows an interest in piercings or tattoos.
-Listens to gothic or any other anti-social genres of music. (Marilyn Manson claims to be the anti-Christ, and publicly speaks against the Lord. Please discard any such albums IMMEDIATELY.)
-Associates with other people that dress, act or speak eccentrically.
-Shows a declining interest in wholesome activities, such as: the Bible, prayer, church or sports.
-Shows an increasing interest in death, vampires, magic, the occult, witchcraft or anything else that involves Satan.
-Takes drugs.
-Drinks alcohol.
-Is suicidal and/or depressed.
-Cuts, burns or partakes in any other method of self-mutilation.(This is a Satanic ritual that uses pain to detract from the light of God and His love. Please seek immediate attention for this at your local mental health center.)
-Complains of boredom.
-Sleeps too excessively or too little.
-Is excessively awake during the night.
-Demands an unusual amount of privacy.
-Spends large amounts of time alone.
-Requests time alone and quietness. (This is so that your chid may speak to evil sprits through meditation.)
-Insists on spending time with friends while unaccompanied by an adult.
-Disregards authority figures; teachers, priests, nuns and elders are but a few examples of this.
-Misbehaves at school.
-Misbehaves at home.
-Eats excessively or too little
-Eats goth-related foods. Count Dracula cereal is an example of this.
-Drinks blood or expresses an interest in drinking blood. (Vampires believe this is how to attain Satan. This act is very dangerous and should be stopped immediately.)
-Watches cable television or any other corrupted media sources. (Ask your local church for proper programs that your child may watch.)
-Plays videos games that contains violence or role-playing nature.
-Uses the internet excessively and frequently makes time for the computer.
-Makes Satanic symbols and/or violently shakes head to music.
-Dances to music in a provocative or sexual manner.
-Expresses an interest in sex.
-Masturbates.
-Is homosexual and/or bisexual.
-Pursues dangerous cult religions. Such include: Satanism,
Scientology, Philosophy, Paganism, Wicca, Hinduism and Buddhism.
-Wears pins, stickers or anything else that contains these various phrases: "I'm so gothic, I'm dead", "woe is me", "I'm a goth".
-Claims to be a goth.
If five or more of these apply to your child, please intervene immediately. The gothic culture is dangerous and Satan thrives within it. If any of these problems persist, enlist your child into your local mental health center.

well, umm here's the deal..
according to this list, there are only about 3 or 4 things that have nothing to do with me.. this is the reason why i don't believe in any organized religion.. and why church people bother the shit out of me..
i didn't post this in the rant forum cause i'm not ranting.. not really just getting this out there either, but figured i'd let everyone know what is considered "goth" in the eyes of the lord..
and i like how they say that prayer will help these poor souls.. what has prayer ever fixed or helped?
this is something that i truly would not joke about..s imply because there needs to be an excuse for everything... everything needs a scapegoat..
did you notice that almost everything on that list basically explains a teenager? what high skool kid isn't thinking about sex? or wants to be alone? depression is not cause by satan, and i speak this through experience.. if i want to be alone in front of my computer at 3:30 in the morning to either post here, look at some form of porn,or check my email, then according to this church i'm comunicating with the devil? riiiiiiight...

i found this one cause i personally don't attend church.. you've met me, do you honestly think that i'd be able to sit through hours and hours of pointless babble?
according to this list, no one has ever met or talked to a teenager..
almost like the ten commandments, there's no one that could ever follow them.. ever...

1. I personally don't believe this. This may be considered "goth" in the eyes of this particular church. But in the eyes of the Lord??? I don't know what's in God's mind, but, that certainly doesn't fit my vision of my compassionate higher power.
2. Prayer helps a lot. Even if you are agnostic or even atheist, and believe there's no one and/or no power, or nothing to which to pray, prayer can help the people who are doing it by making them feel better. If it makes them feel better...I'm for it.

but, through my own personal experiences with the stereotypic "goth" lifestyle/personality, which i firmly believe is nothing more than a fashion statement at this point, people blow things way out of proportion (sp?).. i tend to get set off by anyone who thinks that because i have holes in my ears that are larger than the "norm" that i'm a "goth" or what-have-you.... again, i didn't post this as a rant... and prolly should have worded it differently, but i guess it's too late now...

I was not offended in the least, over anything that was said. We all can have our own individual beliefs, and if yours differ from mine--well, that's what makes the world go 'round. It'd be pretty damned boring if we all thought the same thing on every subject.
I do believe in a higher power & I also pray. And every time I do, I get exactly the same response. Silence.

I question the validity of the document and if it actually came out from a church or not, but I don't question the uneducated, ignorance projected from this whole thing.

I will say that this is extreme however and any type of extremist comments and actions not matter which side does not impress me a bit!

there is no toe stepping in here...you all are debating very well...trust me, this whole site would know if we had to close a thread...it happens VERY rarely.
Debate is healthy and as I said, the differences of all of us here is what makes this site interesting. I love the diversity!
