Ford Enters Libya in Partnership with Shaheen Business and Investment Group
6 August 2005: Libya - Ford Motor Company has officially entered Libya with the appointment of Shaheen Business & Investment Group (SBIG) as its importer responsible for sales, service and distribution and dealer network development in the country.
The Jordan based business house will open a Ford dealership facility in Tripoli. The fully integrated facility will feature a Sales & Parts Centre and Customer Service Centre supported by a 2000 square-meter showroom and customer area. It will also include a 5000 square-meter workshop, featuring lifts and repair pits.
SBIG plans to extend the facility later this year with the addition of a new body and paint workshop. It will also appoint additional sub-dealers in Tripoli, Benghazi, Surt, Masratah and Darnah. Spare parts stores in Tubrug and Masratah, and one used car sale center in Tripoli are also in the pipeline. The company expects to employ around 300 staff by the end of 2006.
“Our development plans are in line with Ford’s global goal of providing superb costs of ownership and plans to become Libya's top automotive brand, providing the best customer service and product excellence,” said Reyad Shaheen., General Manager, Shaheen Business& Investment Group .
The initial Ford product line-up will include models from European and American markets, including Fiesta, Focus C-max, Mondeo, Explorer, Transit, Transit Connect, Maverick, Ranger, Crown Victoria, Town Car, Navigator, F-series, Expedition, Everest and Cargo trucks.
“Ford’s vibrant portfolio will meet the needs and expectations of all customers,” said Shaheen.
SBIG, considered to be a major player in the automotive industry, draws on broad entrepreneurial experience in North America, Europe and the Arabian Peninsular region.

And the funny thing is that I work for Ford and at one time the Department Of State. Kinda does not sit well with me.
