Only being able to fill the vehicle while standing on one's left foot and then putting the gas cap on during the first light of a full moon while very calmly singing Monty Python's "Every Sperm is Sacred" and not forgetting to hold your left arm straight out towards Bill Ford's place on Lake Michigan, in order to avoid a CEL, could hardly be called being sensitive.

Holy crap so this is what I have to look forward to? lmao I haven't had any problems filling my car before? <knocks on wood>

There is a locking gas cap listed in Ford's parts catalogue but the dealer said that it's only available in Mexico. Apparently there is some sort of anti-siphoning device in the Focus. I asked him to try ordering a cap for me anyway.
If anyone wants to know why oil really should be at $200.00/bbl read this book. It's not B.S., the author has done his homework.

No it wasn't. The one that I had just had a straight line grip rather than the one you showed. I wonder if this one will work without throwing a CEL.
Thanks
I'll follow up.

I guess Im the nly personin AMerica who changed their driving habits. After I got fired and didnt HAVE to drive all the way to Seguin everyday, I basically quit driving. I drive when I have to but for things like going to the store or going for a snack, I walk. I live within a mile of 2 large shopping centers and within 3 miles of another. I just walk. My new job is just down the street from my place, it'd prally only take ma 40 minutes to walk there. I'll probablly walk there too if the gas hits 5$.
I can honestly say that I have changed my driving habits too, only I don't walk I just sit my fat butt at home now
Seriously though, we're down to about 3/4 of a tank fill up every 2 weeks for teh Focus!

My habits have changed, but not considerably. I mean even when I pound on my car, it gets 19 mpg, and that's only been 2 tanks in over 2 years. Most of the time even with spirited or aggressive driving thrown in it gets no less than 23, which is decent to me.
But since moving to WV for med school, the Focus sits under a cover most of the time. I walk to and from school, it's just over a half mile each way, and hilly so I get good exercise! There's a Sheetz at the end of my street (maybe 0.3 mi!) and it's 24 hours, like a 7/11 and gas station kinda, ya know sells milk and other essentials.
I drive the Focus usually once a week, definitely to get groceries. I technically could walk, it's maybe a mile away? Maybe a touch over. But then I have ot lug the bags back and milk, Ice cream, refrigerated stuff wouldn't enjoy an easily 25 minute walk!
I've been down here 3 weeks and have filled my car once. I did a lot of running around last week too, getting errands done. I predict a tank (well, really 3/4 since that's when I fill up) about every 3 weeks. 22 or 26 mpg, it doesn't make a Huge difference to me for so few miles! So when I drive I will continue to enjoy it, but it's honestly faster to walk places now! 10 minute walk to school or at least 5 minute drive to the parking lot (on far side of school from my apt), fighting school busses now that school's in for Elementary!, and then walk a solid 5 minutes to my classroom... plus pay $130 for a parking pass! No thanks, I'll walk... if weather gets evil or I'm late and I have to drive once or twice tickets are only $10... that's 13 tix before I break even I like my odds!
Considering that locking gas cap though, we'll see how long it takes me to break down and buy it

After seeing gas prices go up $.25 over night I think its gonna be time to start taking out the motorcycle to get to work.... if its a little cold in the AM ill just hear a hoodie or something. Atleast it gets like 50mi/gal... i can deal with that.
Might have to start commuting inthe AM too with bill. We work about a half mile apart... about 10 miles from home. Only problem now is our hours dont line up too well with me workin 7-330 and him 8-5.... might have to figure somethin out though it this keeps up!!

I was carpooling w/ someone from Manchester to Concord each day for work now she's moved. My cost is going to go back up because I'll have to drive myself. (IF anyone from Manchester goes to Concord for work to be there by 8am and leave by 5pm let me know...I'm up for carpooling)
Anyway, I'm limiting my backroad driving now because I really get outstanding hwy milage compared to driving the back roads. I can pull nearly 400+ miles when I go hwy out of a tank and only around 340 with the backroads.
This sucks...I topped of my fuel yesterday after work and the price had already jumped $.10 a gallon.
I may have to sell the old girl and get something with better milage. I dont' know yet. I definitely am going to get my motorcycle license!

here anything except the lowest grade is over $3 already
I was reading something today about it... says we shouldnt be surprised if it hits over $4..... the only question is how long will it last?
And you know, i know this is now getting us to the point where other countries have been for years... I just wish all the extra money was going into environmental taxes like other countires... not into the pockets of gas companies... God forbid they dont make a billion dollar profit each quater!

Hey now Pokes, there is a gas company tax break to let them "allocate research funds for alternative technology". WTH would you give that responsibility to Exxon-Valdez or whoever... instead of some green hippie Engineers or something who might Actually try to find and advance cleaner, less oil dependant ideas?! Dammit it makes no sense.
Well anyway, even a dime a day is a big leap! I'm trying to think, before I left (Aug 8th), Shell had about the most expensive gas around... I was paying $2.46 for Regular. Now down here, on the 23rd I paid $2.58. That's 12 cents, but in three weeks. And I'm sure the Shell station at home was NOT $2.58 a few days ago! I'll have to see what the pumps say around here now, post-Katrina...

Less than a couple hours away from me in Central Wisconsin, I guess gas is literaly 3.99 a gallon!!!
