I'm doing the M.S. charity fund raiser ride tomorrow in Ohio. I'll be riding 175 mi. Sat. and another 100 on Sun. I'm in pretty good shape, but haven't ridden that far in that short a time in quite a while. I'm looking forward to kicking some younger guy's asses.  :D Those younger riders are gonna be ;owned.

I'm back, relatively safe & sound. Saturday was really crappy. It was hot as hell, like most of the summer this year. Temp. about 90, with about 250% humidity. We started at 7:30 AM. By the time we'd ridden about 60-90 miles, the rain started. It wasn't just any rain. More than 5 inches fell in less than an hour. I was in the lead group of about 30 riders. We stopped at a Burger King to wait out the storm. When we started again, I got dropped along with 5 or 6 other riders. Water was everywhere. Big puddles all the way across the road, debris from flooding like gravel, branches etc., everywhere. And...it started raining again. I was on a slight downhill with a curve at the bottom. The curve was banked & covered with water. There was a small submerged branch at the apex. I ran over it, crashed & burned. I fell right into a huge puddle. Got a nice sized strawberry on the outside of my right knee & a smaller matching one on my elbow. Bike undamaged. My pride not exactly intact, I finished the ride, got to Sandusky, and retired to the motel room to lick my wounds. I was beat. Ate & went right to bed. I'd say it took me... maybe 16 seconds to fall asleep.

Sunday.......beautiful day. Sunny, 78 degrees, the water was gone - only 100 miles to go. The whole ride was great! Had a tailwind 90% of the way, so we really jammed. Overall, I rode well. Got my ass kicked, but kicked a lot of asses too. There were over 1000 riders that took part. There were a choice of routes starting at 30 miles & up. Probably raised at least $250 large for M.S.

I'm really tired now. Not doing a damned thing today. I start work tomorrow, so I'm just chillin'. Thanks for the good wishes.
