I recently drove past this business with these signs:
What do you think of this?
Do you think it's legal?
Do you care that you had to go through classes to get a driver license to drive a car, while not knowing the person next to you has no license, but having insurance makes it ok?
Do you care?
What if this person with no license hits you and just runs?
What if this person has never driven before but they think it's ok. Just because they are insured.
And don't even say, well someone might be driving the car for them, be realistic like that really ever happens! Only 3% of the time.
Tell me your thoughts. Even if you think it's ok, tell me why is it ok?
Thank you.
I don't know. It's probably legal. I put it in the same catagory as the check-cashing places & bail bondsmen. They're not actually giving people permission to drive. They're just an insurance co. Personally I wouldn't be too confident that they'd pay-off in the event of a claim. I also had a chuckle at the 30% off sign. LOL! 30% off what? If you's had a DUI, a poor record, etc., I'd hate to see what it'd cost you for even minimal insurance. So, I'm not saying it's OK. Probably legal though.

I wuld guess it's legal or they wouldn't advertise? Just word of mouth?
I don't know, it's weird to have car insurance without actually having a license... I've always assumed they were mutually inclusive, but maybe I was wrong? I guess if you hit someone you could say "my insurance will cover that, let's not call the local PD", then no one's the wiser for your driving illegally, because the person's damage got paid?
I dunno, legal or not it's sketchy. There's a couple minivans that drive around Morgantown with literally signs of this quality, looks like they got printed on a home bubblejet or somehting. They say things like "Call ____ if you're paying more than $35 a month on insurance!"
I'm sure they're legit, but what the hell kinda minimalist craptastic insurance can you get for less than $35 a MONTH?! I'm sure it's just like bare minimum to squeak by, since WV is one of those states where it's illegal to dirve without insurance. I always thought that it made sense to insure if you're driving, but my mom (ins. agent) tells me some states don't need any, or didn't used to. Boggles my mind, glad I've got Uninsured Motorist coverage!

You might want to look into what all that covers. Most assume it covers damage (car, property) but in most cases and I would dare say all, uninsured motorist only covers YOU for medical in the event the other driver has no insurance. Well you already have medical as part of full coverage, so there is no point in uninsured motorist insurance. If you only have SR22 (state required insurance minimum) it might be of some use, but I doubt it.
Be worth looking into. I was kinda shocked when I looked at all this and found out the facts when I was getting insurance on the Grand Prix. At least here, if you have full coverage, there is NO point in uninsured motorist insurance.
My insurance runs me right at $70/mo and I have additional insurance and rental reimbursement. I got more than the minimum full coverage. I was going to add uninsured motorist to my policy since my insurance is so cheap and asked and read what it covered. My assumption was that it would cover damage to my car and property damage in the event that I was hit by an uninsured motorist. Made sense in my mind. But it only covers medical here and well I got medical/comprehensive/collision already as a part of the full coverage package and it was going to jump my insurance premium to like $85/mo or there abouts. Something like a 20% increase to get something I already have. Go figure.
