So the iTunes XMas playlist has been on constant loop, and I figured we could get into the season by listing some of our favorites.

Let's see, I like Stevie Wonder's "What Christmas Means to Me", Lennon's "So this is Christmas", Mariah Carey's "O Holy Night" and TransSiberian Orchestra are always fun, I especially like their version of "Carol of the Bells". Also, all the Charlie Brown soundtrack is a classic.

Adam Sandler's "Hanukah Song" (the original one) and the "12 Pains of Christmas" are great in their own ways too!

TSO & Steamroller rule! I love TSO's 1st album so much that I ran out & bought their 2nd one too. Big disappointment.

Also try Dave Coz's album December Makes Me Feel That Way. It's just SUPER!!!

John Lennon absolutely one of my faves!

Grandma got runover by a reindeer - just a fun song

White Christmas & Little Drummer Boy - Bing Crosby (w/ David Bowie on the Drummer boy)

The Chipmunk Song - The Chipmunks

I'm Gettin' Nuttin' For Christmas - Fun song

There are so many I love...The fun ones put me in a really happy mood...don't know what it is, but there are just so many!

He's a jazz Sax player, IMO one of the best in the world. The album is all sax, but it's all standard carols that you know. It's not really jazz, but it's a wonderful album. If you have a borders or similar nearby, you can listen to it before buying.

'Course, I'm a bit biased, being a sax player myself. I doubt that you'd be disappointed tho.

LOL. I was driving home from the doc's yesterday listening to the radio. Some woman called in to request a Christmas carol. The DJ said, "Sure, what would you like to hear?" She said something Christmassie like John Lennon. I was alone, but actually laughed out loud. I like John Lennon, but I don't think of him as some kind of a Christmas icon.

Oh.............and I'm sorry, but the Chipmunks & their squeaky little voices MUST DIE!  ;tim

Haha, yeah I don't think of Lennon as "Christmasy" either, just that one song. People calling into radio stations are funny. I could see the Chipmunks being annoying, since everyone around me says so every holiday season:D If I tweak my voice hard enough I can kind of sing like Alvin... it's real good for annoying the snot out of my brother on 2 hr car-rides!

Ah well if Coz is a sax-jazzist that explains why I've never heard of him! I don't usually like jazz (which my uncle tells me is because I have no taste, might be) but I've got nothing against it or saxes, just haven't enjoyed what I've heard so far. I'll be sure to check Borders though, new twists on carols are always worth a try.

Speaking of music, Newport has their big fancy Jaz Festival every year and I always think to myself, I bet that would be a great time. I don't know what it is, but I feel like if you really enjoy listening to jazz, you must be a classy person?? Maybe it's cause it's held in Newport...

Carol of the Bells, I absolutely LOVE that.  However I ran across a version while on business in Boston a few years ago.  I was leaving BOSTON (God help you if arent ever prepared to land/take off at Logan airport) on a Delta flight and was in first class.  They had a music video of Carol on the Bells and was a version I had never hear but instantly fell in love with it and I have NEVER been able to find it on line or on CD.

I also love Jingle Bells, the barking dog version

I love the chipmunks so their rendition I love to hear.

Second to Carol of the Bells would have to be Winter Wonderland.

Was it the Boston Pops? Just a guess, considering your location:P Also, Logan used to be a gigantic PITA, now it's more like a mild one with the "completion" of the main artery straight to the airport.

Hey Mr V thanks for the suggestion! I found Koz on iTunes and you can preview all the songs, so I DL'd it... soundtrack to my making dinner tonight! Super for sure.

No, Im pretty sure it wasnt the Boston Pops, at least if it was they didnt show them in the video.  I do remember the people in the video making some of the tunes with the liquid filled glasses.  It wasnt the main harmony, was more filler music but boy did it make the whole thing kinda come alive and give it a sound and rendition I wont soon forget.

It was them making the sounds with the glasses that really caught my attention, otherwise I wouldnt have paid much attention to it.  But when I heard the sounds it was so distinctively different yet classic I just started watching to see how it was they were making the tunes and thats when I saw them using the glasses.

Nah! It's just that many jazz folks look down their noses at those who don't appreciate it. They can actually be snootier than classical lovers. I like some jazz, & I play some jazz, but I'm not really that big of a fan. Some I like, some I don't.

Glad you found the Coz album. He's good, isn't he? I actually like Richard Elliott's tone better, but Coz's music is better. He's an over-all better player, too.

Logan Airport = ;down;willy;down;willy;down;willy

Navigating the airport streets there takes a unique person - you have to 'morph' into a Masshole to drive it.  Watch out for the Cabbies and rental shuttles!!!

I like the old classics and anything fun for Christmas  the rest of my life is too damned serious to take the holiday season that seriously.  I don't stress about decor, shopping or visiting...nice and slow the way it should be.
