Yesterday (7/2) , i got a phonecall from my Mom. Saying i got a message from PayPal, to verify a purchase made with my PayPal debit card. I got the number to call back, but was cautious to call that number, feeling it was some kind of scam.
So i decided to go to PayPal's website, and look over my account. I saw no recent transactions. Which makes sense, since ive used the card last maybe a year ago, to withdraw money from an item i sold.
After looking over my account, i looked up an 800 number to contact PayPal customer service. I called the number to question the message i recieved.
After being transferred to the proper department, it was verified that the call back number left for me in the message was indeed PayPal Security Team.
I called that number, and gave the info requested, and i got a nice surprise! I was told there was a Pending purchase in the amount of $2,xxx!!!!The charge was made by "ADCOM Services in Clark,NJ" (anyone ever hear of them?)
I told them NO WAY, that was not me. So a fraudental charge claim and stolen/lost card report was made. So everythings ok now.
Now since i used my card maybe a year ago, is it safe to assume, my PayPal account had been hacked? I already went ahead and changed my password. I have additional cards on my account. Should i call up the respective companies to have those cards cancelled, and have new ones issued in case those numbers were taken as well?
Replace them all. Get one card with a low fixed limit for online transactions. Only use that card and make arrangements that the limit can only be increased temporarily through prior specific authorization from you.

I have a card used for on-line & pay pal purchases. It has a $500 limit.
