Over my storm chasing career as it were, I have had a couple close calls with lightning.  Not that Im upset or scared or anything like that.  It is, after all, what Im after.  But I thought I would post up the sounds of the strikes.  The closest strike I have ever had to me was probably in the neighborhood of 150' maybe less.  The others have been not much further away.

The first link is to an audio file I have on my site and is the closest I have ever physically been to a lighning strike.  I almost caught it on film.  It was just a few feet out of the field of view.

The next good audio file I have is a strike I actually captured on camera. You can see the strike here:

http://www.stormstrikes.com/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=504

Its a little further away as I was actually hoping a strike would hit the tree closer to me but it didnt work out that way.

The sound file for it is here:

These are new, but Ive been in the process of going over several hours of storm audio trying to put together some sounds and what have you for a screen saver I am making and thought I would share.

Enjoy.

AMEN!!!  I would love to go on one of those planes.  There arent enough memory cards in the world for the number of pictures I would take.
