Umm. I don't get it. Does this refer to global warming? At any rate, I'm glad I'm not affected. according to the info on the map, the inland seas are safe for now.

Yup, it's an adjustable map. Top left you can adjust the sea level rise.
Zoom out and then move to Holland. Adjust to 10metre sea level rise.
I was looking at Africa since I've been spending some time in West Africa this past year. Just found it interesting.

Speaking of global warming and the sky falling, has anyone seen the Al Gore movie about it?I forget the name of it, but all I had to do was see this clown on the back cover and I knew it'd be hillarious.
If I were concerned about global warming, I'd beg Big Al to stop being on my side.
Wonder what he thinks of the latest study on livestock being a much larger cause of global warming than automobiles. That had to be a serious blow to the anti-America nut jobs out there who actually think for themselves.
Sorry, in case you can't tell I think that the hype around cars causing the Earth to die is every bit as laughable as the 70s scare of the next Ice Age, the 80s scare of Overpopulation, and the 90s scare of Deforestation.
Do cars put-out pollutants? Absolutely! Do they compete with natural sources of those same polutants? Not even close. Will electric cars help? Between the powerplant byproducts and the harm that rotting powercells will have, I don't think so but I understand that it makes some people feel better.

No, I have not seen Al Gore's flick. As an old guy that travels a fair bit my own observation is that weather patterns sure have changed over the past 40 years.
Was just in Ottawa and the Rideau Canal is barely frozen over. Flying in to Ottawa I could see some open water in lakes that have always been solid enough by end of November to drive a truck on to and do some ice fishing.
These are symptoms. I have my reservations about the direct causal relationships that are sometimes laid out in front of us. Are 6 billion of us having an effect on the planet.. No question. Are the levels of carbon dioxide increasing.. Yup. Are cars the only cause, no. Are those millions of head of livestock the only cause, no.
The major cause is politicians. Gas bags like Obasanjo, Harper, Bush and the rest of that lot blow more hot air per minute than the entire stock of cattle on this planet. Save the planet, keep the politicians away from Taco Bell.
The changing weather patterns are not debatable. I was just sitting on my deck where there should be a couple of feet of snow and it's nearly 60f degrees. I'm kind of liking this. It is also not as warm in the summers here though and water levels are WAY down.
I subscribe to the cyclical weather pattern theory myself. You may remember the 70s being colder in North America than the 60s, promoting the Ice Age theory. The fringe always has the next doomsday scenario and it's always promoted by Hollywood and by Liberals in general (I'm politically conservative and socially liberal). It was either Sting or Bono screaming that something like 100,000 acres per day were being cleared in the Amazon. I don't remember the actor who got the ball rolling on the overpopulation theory (did you know that you could take every person in the world, place them in Texas, and they would still have more living space than the average person in New York City?
My point is that people jump too fast on these kooky theories and they don't do it by acting on their own. They try to make people like me act for them (need I point out Striesand?).
