I'm on my way to work tonight and something fell off my bike. I got off and looked down and my right pedal was gone. I found it down the sidewalk a little ways and try putting it back on. Well when I turned the pedal to screw it back in, it wouldn't work, so I put the pedal into my bag. So I started walking the bike and my leg hit the other pedal...THEN THAT ONE FELL OFF!!!!!.

So here I am, walking a damn bike with no pedals into work. Guess I won't be riding that anytime soon. The really sad thing was I was seriously contemplating on how to ride the bike with no pedals.

Go to the hardware store and buy two really long bolts (like 4") about the size for the hole for your pedal. Buy two nuts to fit said bolts. Slip the bolts through and tighten the nuts down so the head of the bolt is on the "inside" and the nut is on the "outside" of the pedal-holding-thing, holding the bolt in place.

What PFF said will probably work, but it's a sure receipe for bruised, cut shins, and possibly a crash. It'll also ruin the carnk arms, (the expensive, hard-to-fix part that holds the pedal).

Pedals all have the same diameter and thread size. My suggestion is to go the a discount drugstore, KMart, Target, and buy a new set of pedals. They should only be a few bucks.  Probably less than $10. You'll be safer and happier, especially since you NEED your bike to be dependable so you can get to work.

A couple of more questions...What kind and brand of bike do you have? Why did your pedals fall off? Were they rusted? Loose? This is very unusual for this to happen. Take a peek in the threaded hole at te end of the crank arms where the pedals go. Is there anything in there? I may have some pedals lying around that you can use. I have many, many, many more bike parts than auto parts lying around. Either ans. this or send me a PM & I'll see what I've got.

Hey Bama,

I do have a set of pedals I can send you. All you have to do is pay postage. Should be under $300. :D

Well I got the pedals on the bike (someone from work put them on for me) and I even got a little rack that goes over the back tire so I could bring some groceries home. Well genius me but a small paper box on the back so I could carry the said groceries home. I was almost home when tragedy struck (okay so not really tragedy but it would have won the prize on America's Funniest Home videos).

So this is the scenario. Just try picturing this. A girl stopping on the side of the road to wait for the light. She has a box strapped to the back of the back (so she resembles a little chinese guy delivering food). She puts her foot down to wait for the light, her ankle gives out, and she falls completely over onto the ground. I mean it in slow motion. And I just laid there for a second trying to figure out how the hell this just happen. I'm sure everyone around was too busy laughing cuz no one stopped to ask if I was okay. Thank god I fell the opposite way of the road so my head didn't get run over.
