So after a hard weekend of feeling like crap, Im thinkin maybe I should go straightedge. I really cant go a single day of my life without using somekind of mind altering substance. Usually just beer and pot but there are some days when I have no money and no nothing and that bottle of glue starts to look appealing. lol. Ive used about every substance you can and Ive never had what you would call an addiction problem. I never crave for a certain drug, I just crave a drug. If Im "addicted" to anything, its the altered state. I have more than once used the supposed "high addiction" drugs like cocaine or the horse for one day and then never been back to it for months. Not because I dont like it or anything just because I dont see a need to get that specific high again. So.... beer usually fills the role of everyday choice. Its legal and therefor easy to get. Mind you, I go for the tweed first but its slightly harder to get so beer takes the number one spot. Im not sure why I even thought about the double Xs other than I had a nasty hangover and Im tired of shelling out cash for the stuff. Maybe instead of going straight, I should just steal it instead.

save some brain cells, though straight edge has a negative connotation, I think it's fair to say there is nothing wrong with it.  If your cravings are putting you in a position where you've got now flow, just think of all the pimp shit you could do to your car with that extra dough.

Yeah, a good detox is relieving. Straight edge is a little too strict and "status clinger" like for me. I prefer moderation. Moderation is key. Plus its funner.

so far the quest is a total failure. Been averaging a 12 pack a day since the topic started. I tried to stay away but I gave in pretty easily. I love the altered state way too much. I know Im killing myself but I dont seem to care. Sobriety just sucks way too hard.

no man, fo real! and thats actually "cutting back." I used to rip thru a 24 pack a day. Im really gonna make a concerted effort not to drink today. I only had one beer yesterday and Im going to try very very hard not to drink at all today........ or do anything else. The second part will be easy since I dont HAVE anything else.  unless that damn glue starts eyeballing me again.;)

Good to hear you are trying to cut back. I know its hard, that 'other' state does kick the ass, but yeah, its really REALLY not good for ya there man. Keep tryin... be strong... and yeah... keep those numbers down :)

You know, I read somewhere or heard somewhere (maybe the History Channel) that alcohol doesn't damage your brain cells.  The liver on the other hand might be a different story.

If you are at the point where you are drinking a 12 pack plus a day, going cold turkey ain't gonna work.  Maybe only drink 6 a day for about a week, then 4 a day for a week, then two a day for a week, then one.  I think you'll have better luck that way.

I usually drink enough to kill an elephant and am way tired of the crap involved with it, the headaches, feeling sick, not being able to eat or sleep and especially the newfound heartburn after 3 days of hard drinking, that and I've fulfilled my last sexual fantasy the other week so I'm moving to Tulsa for at least 9 months where I know basically no one. I'm not gonna do anything but work and work out and get healthy again.

If you've never done it before a 2 day fast is a long one. Once the first day is over you lose the hunger. Drink lots o water, that will help. And I would recommend keeping a little orange juice around in case your blood sugar gets too low which can happen also if your body isn't use to that kind of treatment.

Alcohol effects your memory when taken in large quantities.

Hope your fast goes well, and you stay clean!

Hell yeah it affects your memory. I can't tell you how many times my friends have to fill me in on what I did the night before! One time I came to while dancing on a box in a club with 5 cuban chicks and I have no idea how I got there.
