yeah i think im gonna throw in a zetec in about five years or so maybe more maybe less but i need a list of parts i'll need to do it. as for the PATS is there any way i can disable it without the original keys from the zetec?? i think i heard that the diablochip has something like that on it i dunno tho. well any info is appreciated. thanks
Ive never found a way to disable it. need to get the computer flashed at the dealer. I bought an early production EECV from focus sport that had pats disabled. I dont know how randy got it but its mine now.
so far parts list is side mounts, alternator, harness, ECU, idler pulley (if its a crate motor)
if you get from KSGERRY [highly recomended] then I am 90% sure but unverified, that you need a focus zetec oil pan and windage tray. these can be had on ebay for about 30 bucks, I see them all the time.
why five years man? by that time duratec will be the king of the focus. (KSGERRY has those too)
Also, a customer in San Antonio ordered and paid for a Zetec engine and is too lazy to pick it up from the Roadway Express terminal!! Someone named Juan Aguirre living with a Sara Charles at telephone number 210-317-2227.
Raodway Express is sending the engine to auction to pay for storage charges...now at $178.dollars and adding additional costs of $13.70 per day. I talked to Diana at Roadway and told them this was a scap salvage Zetec engine (gets a better shipping rate with a class C50 code!) and worth a maximum of $500.dollars at most.
Maybe they will sell it to you instead of having it go to auction? Maybe Juan will sell it to you to recoup some of his money? The terminal is located at 427 Gembler and the pro tracking code is: 261-130540-0. Diana's number is 210-222-9961.
Call Juan, the owner of the engine to see if he will release (sell?) it to you. Roadway Express indicated they will send it off to auction...today or tomorrow.

A complete Zetec with flywheel, clutch and pressure plate weighs about 270 pounds. With the wooden packing crate about 325 pounds.
If you pick up this engine or another Zetec purchased in the future, bring a small trailer or a pick-up. The terminal will load it for you with their forklift. If you specify home or business delivery then you will get charged a drop fee as they will come with a box truck and unloading platform-tailgate.
yeah, if they let me have it I was gonna come with the explorer. not the best choice but I figure I can hoist it with some help. maybe cut the crate off it. shit, I lifted the focus ATX by myself once. I'll never do that again but at least I know I can.
duratec is possible. KSGerry has those too. If you want to stay auto I then all you need is the engine, alternator, PS hard line, throttle cable, down pipe, flex pipe, and main harness. However, I think the duratecs use a different bell housing on the trans and use a different mount. Not sure if the duratec flywheel will bolt to the 4f27e. maybe go look at the dealer and see what you can see.
so if i do decide to go zetec, how much would the ol' spi be worth then? also a friend of mine asked why i just dont go with a svt zetec? what exactly is the difference between the zetec and svt??
For power I would do either the SVT Zetec or the 2.3 Duratec and get the Mazda3 Duel stage intake. Heck for power and about 8K drop a 302 V8 into it..
If you do a weekly check at some local salvage yards someone is bound to total an 05 ZX4 ST. I have seen a Mach Ed Focus with about 5K miles(or less) on it in a salvage yard once(kid rolled it).
I think you could get more money for the spi if you part it out.
its all about how deep you want to get into it and how much money you have. SVT engines sell for more money and are harder to come by. the getrag trans is not as good as the MTX-75. the difference in engines is the SVT has a 10:1 compression, dual stage intake manifold, headers, variable valve timing.....more stuff. doing the duratec swap is certainly not impossible but there are less parts you will be able to reuse from the sPI
