Hey fellow foci owners,

I've done some reaserch on the SPI focus.  It apears to mirror the 1.8l CVH from Europe...am I half way correct in making that determination?  If so, what type of goodies do you think I can put on her?  My goal is 350 h.p.  Right now I'm up to around 165 and running out of options.  Please help.  I know there's alot of stuff I can put on it from europe, but what wil fit, what won't?

...One more thing...I read somewhere that someone overbored their valves 1mm.  Which vavles were used to accomodate that?  I can't seem to find a good set of valves.  Oh and wheel bearings.  I need a race tested set of wheel bearings.  Our car does go the speed on the speedometer (autobahn tested...What a Freakin' rush!!!!) but right after that, I blew my rear wheel bearings.  I freaquently driven over 100mph, and I'm NOT trying to have that happen again.  All the members of my team got cars that go between 130-160 MPH, so I need to be able to keep up W/O my car falling apart.

I replied to your PM but I'll talk here too. yes the CVH is the older brother of the SPI.

I'm the onlyone I know of with oversized valves. I had them custom made at a local race engine shop. I ahd them made so that they will work with the EFP retainers and springs.

rear wheel bearings are a common issue. there is a new design that is supposed to prevent the water/salt intrusion of the first gen. OEM part manufactured by Fag bearings in Germany. there is a complete rearwheel kit that sells for 75$ from the dealer.

Can You order those valves for me?  If you have Paypal, or get me in contact with that shop I can pay by credit / debit card.  So the manufacterers of the wheel bearing is made by Fag?  Do I get them from Ford or do I have to go through the company?  Also as far as the SPI vs. CVH, do you know what is transferrable without without removing my IMRC setup?  I want to keep that for my Turbo.

get them thru Ford.

I honestly dont know how my shop made them. they could have outsourced it like they did my trans gears. I would think that probe or crower would be willing to make a set for you. they would probablly just have to modify the retainer portion of a zetec stem.

As far as swappable, post a pic of your engine for me.

I don't have a pic small enough to fit.  But if you go onto http://WWW.burton-power.co.uk

It will give you detailed info on the CVH engines as well as any other ford engine that Europe produced.  I was thinking about the 2.0 pinto engine that they have, but I don't think that those are compatible.  Changing the Head to a 1.8 Race head will be a No Go unless I can find a motor mount alternative.  What was Ford thinking when they put the ass end of the motor mount on the Head????  Hey While I'm on, If ya'll want any European parts for your Focus, gimme a Holla, and we'll see what we can work out.  They have an abundance of wheels.  Check http://www.duw.de or http://www.fk-automotive.de   The only problwm is it's in German.  But they have Mad wheels and tuning, interior, exterior, and sound stuff.  Their body kits aren't that bad, but most of them are for the ZX3.
