I use modified escort GT headers. The reason I prefer them over the FC is one it isnt FC and two, the firing order is actually correct. IIRC, the FC has it mixed up. That affects the scavenging negatively.

I have the fc short header. It's ok...it seems more now like a waste of money actually. It was a pain in the butt to install and I didn't notice a difference. I haven't replaced my cat with an off road pipe yet and that's where the real difference will be seen but i'm worried about it not being worth it afterword

It's the race header that's made incorrectly. The short header is in the right firing order. It's made ok too it's just a lot of money and I personally didn't notice the whole 2 hp it added. But I'm sure combined with the off road pipe I would. The only REAL problem I had with it was how close it came to the power steering line that goes across the front. I made a bracket and pulled it forward so it would burn against it. Installing it was simple enough too really (other then the power steering line issue but i'm told other people didn't have that problem)...It took a little while but that's because it was my first time doing something like that. I made a how-to that's still listed on this site.

I think the problem you'd have with the aftermarket escort header is the second part. you have to cut some pipe out and weld the focus flex bracket on. Better to spend less money on the oem from a scrap yard if you're gonna be cutting into it.
