So when my car idles i hear this crazy hissing sound, i assume its not good. Also when the engine idles it's really rough and almost seems as if its gonna kill out on me. if any one can help me out here please do so!!! thank you!!!!!  oh yeah, this isn't as important but read it too and respond if needed Just wondering if there are any european spi components or anything that will work with our spi. if there isn't oh well i tried, but if there is, excellent. if only i had a zetec i wouldn't be posting these messages. blarg...... oh yeah would this boook be helpful to the spi'er? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Rebuilding-And-Tuning-Fords-CVH-Engine_W0QQitemZ6551790122QQcategoryZ48444QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

It sounds to me like a vacuum hose has come off.

I'd start by trying to found out where exactly the sound is coming from under the hood. Might have just had a hose shake free. And as far as I've seen there are no parts from the overseas cars we can use (engine wise). As for the book...I personally read a lot of engine and car books as much as I can and find them to all be very helpful in overall understanding.

just thought of a similar problem i had with a hiss and bad idle.
grap a can of carb cleaner and give the base of each injector a good dose. listen to see if it bogs at all. i had an injector oring go bad which caused this... also caused a missfire later on.

Okay i found the leak. But i dunno how i'm gonna fix it. Maybe epoxy?? if someone could get me an engine pic i could point out the leak. its this bell shaped dealyo that loosened up after i installed my strut bar. Oh yeah, suggestions on how to remedy this problem would be great. and it better be the damn vacuum leak causing the idle problem or i'll be pissed
