i took this off today and i can actually hear my car suck in air now. this is the cheapest way for me to get some more air into my engine until i get some cash this spring and buy a real intake kit.

If you have $20, go get a cone filter and pop it on the end of the MAF sensor. Just remove the stock airbox and replace it with a cone filter. That'll really open up your intake. Do this and you won't need to get an intake. For $100, 2hp isn't worth it.

Any 3" cone filter will work. Go to Autozone and get the "Power Adder" filter from the performance section. It's $25. It's what I am running on the daily right now.

You could also make a heatshield, I have a how-to somewhere on this site.
