so i got my coil on correctly and it sounds and feels great. but im worried about the connectors on the coil coming loose. maybe some small hose clamps'll do it? i dunno maybe i'm just paranoid but anyways i needed to take the air box off to get at some stuff so i think soon i'll be getting an escort bracket for it. less of a pain for me then. but anyways i forgot to hook up the MAFS, so if auto zone indeed does OBD II codes for free i'll stop there quick and take care of that. until then i need cable ties for my new wires. post here and give advise plz!!!

Congradulations.

Just run the car for a bit and CEL will go out... or it should. I forgot to hook um the MAFS one time and threw the cell and a little while latter it went out on its own. I could have just been lucky tho.

yeah i aint gonna worry too much. ive ran my car a few times around and she tells me shes ready to go to new jersey. im gonna bring my tools along just in case tho. got photos too of the new coil and wires. no cold air intake yet tho. gotta call up fedex and see if i can pick it up quick b4 i leave 4 nj. oh yeah, i feel like cars are kinda like legos or a puzzle, put all the pieces in the right spots and readjust if needed. damn this is the first thing ive actually put in on a car and im pumped. why dont more people do this stuff themselves? all u need is a service manual and a brain. its that easy.

Use a plastic Tie-Wrap instead. Metal will short.

FYI: I had an 89 Jetta once and the garage put on new plug wires for me and they had this metal sheathing where they hooked to the spark plugs. After about a year they were arking and I put duct tape on them to try and keep them from arking. That worked for about 2 months and than they got so bad that the car could barely pull itself up a hill on the highway in first gear with my foot to the floor. I must have gotten about 5 MPG when all this was happening. I had to drive almost 80 miles and top speed in 5th was about 50 on a flat. As soon as I got to college I got some new plug wires(w/o metal shields) and the car had new life and all the power back. So I am trying to say keep as much metal away from the plug wires as possible.
