I would suggest getting the OEM part from a dealership and then going to NAPA and asking them to match the part.  They can do that for you if the guys/gals running the counter know what they're doing.  I love NAPA when it comes to really needing help.

Hey TXFO - So nice to see you active again man! :o) we need ya!

oh, did I fall off? lol.

Last time you said the leak was on the right.:?

If its on the left (passenger side) near the bottom then yeah, I'd call it the water pump if the tank itself isnt leaking. go to http://www.1stfordparts.com for water pump price.

yeah my bad i thought it was on the right but under closer inspection i realized it was on the left side. the tank? whatchu talkin bout? oh do ya mean the reservior? nah dont think thats leaky cuz it doesnt leak immediately, only a few seconds after i fill 'er up. so how much work is involved to replace it? do u recommend i try it myself? give me a time estimate if u can. thanks. glad to see ya back TXFO:)

yeah I mean the resevoir tank.

should you do the pump yourself? Can you change the timing belt on your own? If you can do the timing belt than you can change the pump. You have to support the engine and remove the passenger motor mount. remove the accesory belt and then pull the timing cover. Remove the timing belt and then one of the gears is attatched to the water pump. From there it just unbolts. It helps to drop the engine a little bit so you can work it thru the wheel well. When you finish you will have to reset the timing. If you screw up the timing belt you wont break anything, it'll just run like shit or not at all. If you had a zetec Id say you could do it 3 hours. But its teh SPI so Id plan on all day.

shit.......dammit, better let a pro handle it then. the only thing that really sucks is that i'll need to get my car towed to the shop, which will cost me extra which sucks. but oh well guess i'll have to get it done sometime.

You could just give it a shot. If you get into it and decide youre in over your head you can always reattatch the motor mount and have it towed to a shop.  It really isnt that hard just time consuming. If it werent for the pump being integrated into the timing belt instead of the accesory belt than you wouldnt bat an eye at it. Just get your haynes book and start working. If you get the timing belt on wrong and its out of time, you just redo it. Nothing gets damaged. All you do is rotate the crank with a wrench untill the dot on the gear lines up with the dot on the block. Use a screwdriver to feel inside the spark plug hole to make sure piston #1 is at TDC. Rotate the cam gear untill the dot on it lines up with the dot on the head. The crank makes two rotations for every one rotation of the cam. So the dots will line up the cam. the dots lining up on the crank will either be TDC or BDC. make sure its TDC or else the engine wont run, no biggie. Once both are lined up, Have somone hold the crank in place with a wrench while you put the belt on. release the tensioner pulley onto the belt and then give the crank pulley two full rotations. Check that the marks are lined up again and if they are, you are done!

PS. if you reassemble everything and you hear a huge whining noise like a stuck BOV or supercharger, you got the timing cover on wrong and its rubbing on the belt. It happened to me once. scared me to death till I saw what happened.
