anyone know how the alternator mounts in the bracket? I can line up the bolts on my alternator but it dosent seem to seat well. Is it like that or do I have the wrong bracket. (yes its a zetec alternator)

I'll try to take a look at this for you tomorrow. I would do it right now but it's dark out, and pouring rain. I haven't taken mine off myself, althogh it has been removed by a shop to do my UDP. I'll try to snap a few pics as well, but no gaurantees.

thanks, I appreciate it. I trided getting it on today and I discovered that it wont fit with the intake manifold. I can get either one on but not together. I copied down the part number to the bracket, time to call ford I guess.

Ya sorry it took so long to respondto you. It sounds like you ned to call ford and see if maybe they gave you the wrong bracket. Where did you get the bracket from? Did the motor come with the intake manifold?

the engine is a zetec from the ford escape. its the same engine but there are a few differences.

well I compared the part number stamped on the bracket to a known focus bracket and its the same. :? so now I have no idea why the intake mani wont co operate with the alternator.

I would imagine if all the parts are right then it would have to fit.  I haven't been behind there with the intake manifold off, though I know how much of a bag the alternator is to get to.  Great place to put that thing FORD!  Either way, let me know if you figure out the trick.  If I get a chance I'll ask someone around here who has worked on his focus more than he'd like to have.  Maybe he's done it before.
