I know that there was a post on the old board about the removale of the EGR tube from our focus. For those of you who don't know the EGR tube runs from the header and goes to the intake manifold. Its purpase is to recycle exhaust gasses back into the combustion chamber which helps to clean up emissions. The EGR stands for Exhaust Gas Return for anyone wondering. There is a link with alot of good info if anyone wants to check it out http://forums.clubfocus.net/viewtopic.php?p=224535#224535
The EGR works in concert with the DPFE. It functions in different measure at different times in response to the throttle. Removing it without reprograming the PCM is going to throw your engine managment into chaos. This will give you poor fuel efficiency as well as poor engine response. Not a good idea especially if you live in a state that monitors polution. You will fail inspection and be subject to a MONSTER fine if the discover you have removed it.
