| After taking the oilpan off an 02 escape zetec, I found a different oil pickup than I expected. The old one is metal and has a half exposed screen in the disk. the new one is plastic, has a support mount (that the focus windage tray is drilled for already), and it has a snorkel! The entire screen is exposed but it has a cone around it that tapers to the same size as the exposed part on the old pickup. what this means is it pulls from a little deeper in the oil pan. Very nice part. does anyone know if this was a design change for all zetecs or this just was not used in the focus version? While the trans mounting flanges on the 2 different windage trays is off, the spacing at the block is the same and so is the oil pan. so The plastic pickup fits and works just fine in the focus.
