Tonight was take two on well... not installing.. but reinstalling the AEM. I had noticed lately it was moving around WAY too freely under the hood and heard it clunking around a bit...soooo... things needed to be checked out.
Sure enough, the intake was seperating at the bottom tube coming out of the bypass valve. So fixing, one problem at a time, Chris got the pipes back together ( im lucky it didnt fall off while driving it was so loose)
After the intake was all set, I had a weather shield that needed some installing. I got one after the last snow story when I had to back over a snow bank and felt the intake nearly rip off the car... So all installed and ready to go, Chris took some shots... don't mind his head in the shot... lol
Its dirty so its actually easier to see... it simply mounts to the underside.. he couldnt get one of the holes to match up so zip tied it to the side of the car.. worked just fine
This shot is kind of hard to tell, but you're looking through the weather shield up into the engine bay at the intake.
This picture is a better example... the shield sits on the edge of the underside of the bumper and bolts down.. how, im not sure, ill let chris explain that, he had a hell of a time figuring it out too.
On my way home from my parents house I noticed an immediate differnece... probably for the reason that the intake wasnt on the car correctly. So its hard to tell if you lose power or not since there isnt a direct flow of air into the filter...
Project # 2 is around the corner in the near feature.. look for it in the boom room or how to blow up your car
Hope this answered some questions about those looking for a weather shield...

It's not about what you have under the hood, it's about who you have behind the wheel...
looks like that thing could use some cleaning. as for the front, there is a slot in the plexi, with a washer, and it goes under the radiator support bolt from the CAI itself. it comes with a screw and half @$$d nut to put thru the hole in the fender well..but it doesnt line up so well, so i used a zip tie to hold it in place, works fine
Which bolt hole didn't line up correctly, the one that uses the existing bolt from the AEM lower mount ?
its the bolt on the inside of the fenderwell. it might howeveer work with a little more opportune time to replace it, but the working conditions werent so great that night, and it wasnt my idea of fun to be laying on the cold cement ground in single digits weather with no jack to put that little screw in. as soon as spring comes around, ill probably be back under to make it work..its just a tough angle to put that little screw in under there with no jack. im sure itll work under better conditions
