I'm not sure, but mechanical lock-up probably only happens in 4th gear. They design it that way as a fuel saving measure, when you're cruising, not accelerating.

I've notice that the atx gets a good take-off, but after 3,500 RPMs it loses force. Sometimes when accel to pass it struggles to take-off, I pass many semi's due to debris that falls from their load.

Umm, I'm ok with my lil 4. :D Saves gas and the wallet can't even take to get an exhaust for my Foci. :(
