Which intake manifold relocates the tb?

There are only a couple, FR is the best one, then there is the FS, and I beleive STR makes one.

I don't know why there aren't more avaiable yet.

the sean hyland prototype moves the TB to the side IIRC, and the SVT manifold of course.

Intake manifolds are something not to be taken lightly. the FR mani is stronger, a trait good for nitrous because an intake backfire wont bust a hole in it. also good but not nmandatory for turbo or SC. there are some manifolds out there designed for higher RPM power. ones with short runners and a more straight thru design. another consideration is injector angle.

Is it worth it to replace the 2001+ unit with the 2000 mani?

I think its a pretty decent purchase. just dont spend too much on it. it has been shown to make modest gains and flow better, if you find a good price, go for it.

I don't think the svtf manifold will work with the zx3.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the butterfly valves will not open to allow the use of the long and short runners.  I would say if you only have bolt-on's and don't plan on running nitrous get a early 2000 ported intake manifold.

itl fit but you have to rig something to open and close the DSIM. You could do it like the IMRC trick for SPIs: running it to a shift light. you also need the SVT alternator bracket.

The Ford Racing intake gives the most horsepower, but it has to be modified to fit the Zetec. The second best is the Focus central which is a direct bolt on. Third is the ported out 2000 style.

I would stick the the 2K ported intake manni. You might be able to find one on one of the sites. I picked mine up for $75. And there is noticable gains, but then I think that will depend on what mods you have besides the intake manni. The intake manni was the last mod I did to my car and I have all the bolt ons.

Do you have the 2000 intake? The new intakes are to thin to shave anything off of. If you have the 2000 yes, you can do it your self with a Dremal. Just pull the T/B and shove a towel in the intake inlet. Also you will need a tank vacume to make sure you get all the shavings. On the flip side unless your pretty handy with tools and general car knowledge I wouldn't go pulling the intake manni off. It's a bitch of a install. If you need help I can give you detailed instructions.

Here are some of the things you need to pull to get it off.

Injectors, fuel rail, Intake, T/B, Alternator, 6 wire harnesses, 5 Vacume lines. That's just to get at the stupid thing.

You'll see gains, but I don't know if yours will be as good as mine because you allready have the 2000 installed on your car. Mine is an 03 and there was a good size differance between the normal 00 to my OEM intake. But it's a free mod for you so why not. LOL I can help with the removal if you need help, there are a few little tricks. I learned for pulling mine. I can post them if your intrested.
