Another point on the list of regular maintenance are the following:
Check the accessory belt regularly especially if you have an aftermarket UDP, they can chaffe and sometimes the ones shipped are too big or small and may break easily or pop off
Next, the coolant and PS fluid. A lot of Foci are prone to small leaks on the bottom of the PS pump that overtime will cause a whining sound when turning. I checked mine and tried to nurse it along until I could get a PS pump and replace it, the pump and rack went bad, ouch. Little more rare on the rack.
One other item that I make it a point to check if you have an aftermarket CAI, especially an AEM or AEM lookalike, check the wiring for the MAF sensor and where it connects with the looming for the coil pack. This sometime separates under stressed conditions and may start fires or cause CEL to ping.
I love fire!
Thanks for all the tips and tricks. I think my car is going in next week to have a few things checked out. I am going to have them check the DPFE and work on my water problem.
I'll let you all know how it turns out!
