Its been well over a year since I had the pump replaced. Probably closer to a year and a half. Im going to try and call Ford tomorrow and see what they say.

venom and walbro make higher flowing pumps. a drop to 10psi is way too far down. the best indicator would be to watch the amount of current the pump draws as fuel delivery demands increase.
I checked with Ford. The dealership here in Tulsa said bring it in they would cover it under the recall. So I called the dealership near where I live in Bartlesville and they had to check on some things and havent called me back. So it looks either way I will be able to get it covered under the recall.
The Tulsa dealership did say though that they would change out the fuel filter and that would cost me $54 . I guess I wont complain about that for what could be a $400 job if I had to pay for it all. Im sure they would have a cow though if I brought in my own filter.

go buy a filter and put it in before you take the car to them. I did that when mine died and they skipped the filter change.
I never got that. they insist that you have to change the fuel filter when the pump is replaced but they wont cover that under the recall. I suspect the dealers have found a way to get a little back end money on recall work.
I should. I intended to do that yesterday, but we had some storms come through so I had to prioritize . Im going to try and get that replaced this evening when I get home that way they dont have to touch it.

I stopped by the Ford dealership here in town and they pulled up my VIN number and it still showed where I had the fuel pump replaced. They asked me if it was the revised model pump and when I informed them it wasnt they told me to bring it in and they would take care of it.
So Im taking tomorrow off, and will drop my car off at 8am and they are going to replace the pump. I didnt thing to ask at the time, but I will in the morning, if they are going to replace the fuel filter. I didnt get it replaced tonight (more storms, priorities people, priorities). Id like to replace the injectors since they have been through two pump replacements, but I will probably have to hold off on that. I'll have to see what a set of 19lb injectors is going for. God only know what, if anything made it past the fuel filter. Though Im sure if something had it would have reared its head by now.
So thats the story thus far. All I can say is thank the Lord Jesus Ford is going to replace the pump cause I really wasnt looking forward to doing it myself. And with the fuel mileage Ive lost lately it will be nice to get back to full range again. Ive only been averaging about 320 miles out of a tank lately and well, for me, that just sucks. With gas prices around $2.20 for 93 octane I'll be glad to be back up to where I was which was about 350 - 360 miles on a tank.
Incidently, if any of you have noticed that it doesnt seem you can get the full 13.2 gallons in the tank, you might want to rock the car a little when you are filling up. I was looking around at the tank yesterday and noticed something that just blew my mind. The fuel filler hose goes into the tank on the side of the tank instead of the top of it like most normal cars. Another wonderful innovation from Ford. So when you are filling up and pump shuts off automatically, I bet if you rock the car a couple times you'll find you can get an additional gallon or more in there. Ive been doing this since Ive owned the car and just figured the tank had a funny design to it to cause that effect.

Ford replaced the fuel pump today and my baby is back to normal. I had to change out the fuel filter myself but it wasnt that big of a deal. I noticed while letting the thing idle that I can actually hear the fuel pump now while its idling and Ive never been able to hear it before that I can recall. It is definately more pronounced when you turn the key to start it as it pressurizes (sp?) the system.
I'll have to put the scan tool on it and see what the pressure is now at idle and above 4000 RPM. When I test drove it after leaving Ford it seemed to have an extra 'kick' to it when I got to about 4800 - 5000 RPM, so it will be interesting to see what the pump is doing in that range now. Im definately interested in seeing if my mileage goes back up. If I were to take my mileage as an indication of when the pump started going out then the thing has been in trouble since about the middle of winter.
The tech that did the work on the car was there when I picked it up and he was all shocked and such that I could give him such specifics about when the studdering started and the specifics on the fuel pressure and was asking me what I was using to diagnose everything. I guess they think they are the only ones with access to ODB II scan tools or he may have just found it unusual I was able to give such details. Maybe there is a kudo for me in there somewhere .
Whats even funnier to me is that their jaw seemed to nearly fall on the floor when I told them I had over 100k in miles on it. Guess they arent seeing to many foci with that much mileage or they didnt think the thing could make it that far, who knows.
