prolonged exposure to acetone would cause degradation, but as a short term fuel booster you could get away with it, the concentrations they talk about are hardly enough to cause damage for the first time, or even the first ten times, but if you did this say for 50K miles, you'd probably start to see erosion of any plastic materials in the car.
then it might be worth a try to just see then just as curiosity killer sucks though bet there are a few of these ideas that are kept secrets while they kick it and hike the gas prices up few more sents
one thing i see everyone is forgetting is the constant exposure the fuel pump assy would see. alot of those parts are plastic and rubber.
yeah, it probably wouldn't hurt short term...
Just remember, plastics are fossil fuel based (natural gas, oil, etc.)
by the way, i read an article i'll have to find on toulene being an octane booster....
