As of late my clutch has been seriously slipping and skipping out on me. There are only 28k miles ont he car and ive been driving standard for over 5 years, i dont think its me. Whats the life on these clutches? Should I be pushing to have ford take this in and take a peek and possibly replacing it ?

Is there a TSB for the zetec clutch or is it only the SVT ?

Any help is appreciated...

I haven't heard of any tsb's & I doubt that Ford would replace the clutch at no cost, even if your car is still under warantee. The manual clutch is not covered by the warantee.

I had mine replaced at about 30,000 miles with a Centerline Stage II. IMO, it's great. It really grabs hard, but is very easy to drive smoothly. Seeing how long the original one lasted, I'm glad I got the heave duty one. BTW, Certerline is available from Ford Racing, & my dealer, (who's terrific, btw), did the work.

So you think I should jsut do myself a favor, buy a new clutch and pay the labor for ford to install it ?

Why don't you bend over at the came time...;hysterical

Seriously. Ford will charg alot to replaced the clutch. But I think anyone will charge lots-o-$$$ because it is involved.

Chelly's 02 clutch had about 40K on it and was starting to go at 30K or so. My 2000 has 85K and I think still on original clutch. I bought it at 49K so I am not 100% positive. My 01 is on original clutch at 30K and its still good.

But I would upgrade the clutch if I replaced it and the Centerforce stage II would be the highest I would go unless I has some serious motor work done.

Mines got 58K on it, I don't think the clutches have short life spans, cause if it did, mine would know. You may have just got a bad one, who knows, problem is, the clutch disc is a wear item so it's not covered. Probably better off getting an aftermarket and having that installed, since it should last a bit longer.

I'd probably go with the Stage 1 or 2 depending on what you feel like.

Actually Dan, my clutch was going before I had 20k miles on it because of the doofus who drove it with me back then.  No need to expand on that comment I'm sure.

Some are really bad, some last the life of the car.  My new car's clutch is fabulous and I hope it stays that way.

FYI - the spec is one of the better clutches out there.  My dad had suggested that to me with my 2k2.  Just try to keep it close to stock...don't go with a racing clutch - you can damage other components.

FYI - clutches are NOT covered under warranty unless there is a TSB or recall.

I did a little bit of research last night  and it appears that there is a TSB for the 2003 clutch but not for anything super major.... I'm probably going to have it in and see what they can do for me, but at the same time, I guess im preparing myself for a new one...

Question is, should I just replace it with a stock one? How much is the stocker? and what am i lookin at for a diff in price?

see if you can shatter the flywheel. then take it in for warentee. that ought to get you a new free clutch.:P

pick a clutch and then find a reputable shop to do the work. no clutch masters or trans shops. they are all rip offs. or better yet, pay ME to install it. I are very much good at those things.

Except she would have to drive to Texas for you to do it.
I'm looking to replace the ol' clutch and flywheel, but also want to upgrade to a LSD and have been looking for a good shop to do the work. I second what TXFO said, stay away from the "tranny shops."
