You arent getting gas in to the motor, did you check your fuel filter?
Just for kicks, disconnect your battery for about 15 minutes, then hook it back up and try to drive the car hard then normal, then hard. IT gets the cpu back up to par.
If that doesnt work, then my only suggestion is to take it in to ford. NOt much you can do because the CEL hasnt been thrown.
Also could be due to the weather,,, has it been incredible hot out? Does driving the car at night make it anybetter?
Why, if you have been using Amsoil Synthetic are you going to flush the engine?
Also, are you doing it or is the dealer/service station doing it? In either case it is a waste of $. If you have been changinging the oil at regular intervals since new, there is no reason on God's Green Earth to do it. If the dealer/service station is doing it on a flushing machine, you will be introducing fossil oil into your system that won't all be removed until the next time you drain the oil.
The only reason anyone should flush a system is buying an undocumented used car or to clean an engine that is dirty... and the later is argueable because it can cause it to need rebuilding immediately.
I flushed mine when I switched over to synthetic...and I can't begin to describe the tremendous difference between the old oil before the engine flush and the deposits that were removed with the flush...when you run a 5W-20 you get quite a bit of burn-on.

I'm going to guess you didn't catch my replies? If these were directed at me.
My car is running fine now since the MAFS cleaning and changing my air filter.
Just had my fuel filter changed in Nov. and then she went up for the winter. I'll be changing it again this autumn, unless I have more probs.

The only reason I'm doing it is because I had never done a flush when I changed over..my oil is quite clean, but I would feel comfortable just doing it now to see if there is any change - call it redundant, but I want to see if I can get anything out of it. Note - I didn't always run Amsoil in my car.
Nope, I do my own work on my car (help from B/F *FX3 in here)...there aren't ANY Amsoil stations locally and I wouldn't let anyone do my oil anymore anyway...had a bad situation years and years ago with an old 87 Taurus I used to own.
Currently and since 11k miles I've been running 7500. This change next weekend will be to the Series 2000.

Sorry I didnt see that...... Glad everything is ok now.

What type of Amsoil have you been using?
I think Chelly may have been referring to the use of the Amsoil Engine Flush (correct me if I am wrong Chelly). Its a chemical flush using a solvent to break up any deposits and either trap them with the oil filter or drain them out the pan. While Amsoil has extremely low deposit formation due to its stability it wont hurt to use it every oil change. Amsoil synthetics have a boil off rate of about 5% or less where as conventional oil will boil off 10 - 13%. 15% will keep you from getting API certification.
So even though the deposit formation is greatly reduced using Amsoil if you want a really clean motor, a chemical flush would be in order. As well, you want to use a chemical flush that does not contain kerosene and Amsoil Engine Flush is one of only about two or three flushes out there that I know of that does not use kerosene.
Another reason to use the chemical flush is due to the fact that the additive package in Amsoil will remove a large majority of deposits in the motor. This is good, however those deposits can end up trapped by the oil filter. So another good reason to use a chemical flush is to help maximize the life of the filter. While Amsoil SDF's have the highest dirt holding capability, why use that capacity uncessarily? Flush it out, put in the oil and new SDF filter and your good to go.
I run the Amsoil 0W-30 with an SDF-34 filter and the Amsoil dual remote by-pass system and Amsoil would have to completely shut its doors and completely stop all production of its lubricants for me to ever use anything else.

It whines a lot, but I like it
Thank you Daniel - yes, I was speaking of the Chemical Engine Flush. I unfortunately, when I changed over to Amsoil nearly 3 years ago - given the information re: the engine flush. It's such a simple proceedure and can give you so many benefits that I feel as though I've slighted my car just a little by not having done this sooner.
I will also be doing a full injection cleaning...not just PI thrown in the tank. She's due for it anyway.
