Welcome to TF. The 1st thing that comes to mind is possibly a dirty throttle body or MAF sensor. Might be a dirty / clogged PCV valve.

How many miles are on the car?

Definately sounds like the typical EGR problem.

DPFE Sensor problem possibly? There are TSB's out on that stupid thing

MAFS as stated, may need a cleaning...very easy to do but you MUST be careful.  If you need info on how to do that I have it.

Has the Fuel Filter EVER been changed?  Should be done every year...those things get filled w/ water and junk - I'd think it would really need to be blocked badly to cause a stall though.

Best of luck!

what kind of sparkplugs and wires do you have now....cuz when i had my zx3,  i installed Bosch Platinum +4's, and my car intended to stall once or twice a day....i switched back to the stock plugs and fixed my problem....so aside from the sensors, also check your plugs and wires....

The car has about 40,000 miles on it.

How do you clean your MAFS?

I have somekind of iridium sparks plugs and Duralast wires (soon to be Livewires or focus sport)

I havent changed it (fuel filter)yet since i bought the car used... wouldnt be a bad idea.

Cleaning the MAFS is easy, it's just such a delicate set of tiny wires that it is easily broken.  Trust me, you don't want to break it, it's not cheap to have replaced.

check this out - it's my little contribution to the How To section

Best of luck to ya!
