what up yall i'm new to this forum and need to know something. many of my friends drive hondas here in kansas and end up hollowing the catalatyic converter. they say the performance difference is huge and i'm wonderin if you hollow out the convertor on the ford focus will it damage the motor, and if not will it help with performance

IV GOT A 2000 ZX3 WITH NO CAT IT MAKES A DIFF A BIG DIFF BUT I HAD TO GET A CHIP TO MANAGE MY AIR FUEL RATO CAUSE OF THE O2 SENS BUT SHOULD BE ALL GOOD.

The cat is in place to help with emissions. It also takes some power away and aids in quieting the motor. The internals of the car are ceramic. The ycan become clogged over time and decrease performance when they get clogged. You can hollow them out or femove them. You of course will not pass inspection in some states with it removed but hollowing them out makes it "look" like it is in place and fonctioning. I am not sure what a hollowed out cat will do to the two O2 sensorc located on it. If it happens to throw the CEL light on you will fail in states with emmissions testing or states that use the ODB plug for testing.
