I've noted every tank of fuel since the ZX5 was new. Normally only look for trends or anomalies. Just decided to play with the spreadsheet and take a look at the last 100,000.
Best were a few tanks in the 7.4 litres per 100km range. Fall driving, all highway on the flat prairie in cruise at 3500rpm in fifth. that's about 39 mile per Imp Gallon.
Worst were 10.5 litres per 100km. Couple were in Montana when I filled up with 85.5 octane by mistake and was hauling ass on my annual escape southwards.
A couple also going flat out through Wyoming on my way to Denver or messing about in the Rockies.
I noticed something else that was interesting. Every now and again I fill up with a local fuel that is 5% ethanol. Not a significant difference in mileage during that tankful although slightly higher consumption, but a measurable improvement for the next few tanks of normal gasoline afterwards.
Winter vs summer does make a small difference but not as big a difference as highway vs city.

Thanks Codger. I just turned 50,000 mi, and my records seem to parallel yours. I've never used ethanol, though. I think because it's just not generally available where I live.
