yeah, i need everybodys help, im getting ready to trade my focus in and ive got it down to two cars, the hyundia tiberon gt v6, or the new focus with the street body kit on it. I love the zetec engine, but i would also like the v6, i know the new focuses dont have zetecs, but are the new engines better in the long run? or would i be better going with the hyuinda? help me please

Have you test driven both cars? At least sat in both cars? You sit low in the Tib like a Honda and ... well ... you know how the Focus feals.

I was in a tiberon once and was really cramped in the pass. seat. I also know the insurance on the Hyundia is going to be more than the focus. The Hyundia will most likely hold resail value better but the Focus seems to be holding its own pretty well in the used car market. For some reason insurance companies increase the prices when they see GT in the model but haven't cought onto the ST badging yet.

Don't know about 08 but if you go with a focus and are thinking about the Tib V6 than look into the Focus ST.

The duratec motor is a good motor. right off the head on the duratec flows a whole lot better than the head on the Zetec. If I am not mistaken the stock duratec head flows almost as good as a ported and done up zetec head. The 2.3L of the ST is a good base also and the duratec (2.0L or 2.3L) respondes to bolt on mods better than the Zetec does. The ignotion system of the duratec is coil-on-plug which is better than coil-to-wire system of the Zetec.

Not sure about gas milage but would guess the 4 cyl would get better mpg.

I also think I heard from someone(not on here) that the Tib V6 was over rated. But that could have been a byast statement.

The best thing you can do is go TEST DRIVE THEM! You're never going to get the right answer on a forum.

I've heard nothing but good about the Tibs. I've never been in one, but I really like the way they look.

yea, i dig the look of the tib.  but i know hyundia's aren't exaclty known for long term quality.  the accent just got the lowest marks of any car in the sub-compact class.

anyway besides that.  as far as i'm concerned duratec blows the ztec out of the water.  so if the issue is you're woried about ford using duratec instead of ztec.... don't be.

i've had mine since 04 and it's had no service what so ever.  never not started or anything, even in the coldest -5 degree mornings here in NH.  45k or so.  nothing but oil changes.  and not too many of those cause i've got her on the fx3 diet.

You know what is great and also sucks about the Duratec?

The powerband. It's so flat. It makes peak power for like 3k RPM.

I keep waiting to feel the gear "top out" but it doesn't. It also doesn't "pull" either like the Zetec did. It just has such a steady powerband. Great for driving, crap for racing. I could tell just by how the car felt when it was time to shift the Zetec. The Duratec, not so much. It just keeps the same pull.

Just for the record: Hyundai transmissions are junk.  Actually they are less than junk.  I'd go with the Focus.  As soon as I have the $$$$$ I'm going to be shopping for one.
