my '01 zts is seriously having some sort of fuel management problem, while driving at highway speeds or under acceleration, the engine starts to miss, then gets progressively worse, the more acceleration, the more it bucks, jumps, and backfires through the intake. its almost identical to an older car when the distributor cap is wet, when i hold the throttle wide open it seem to not be running on all cylenders, when i put the clutch in to let it idle it dies. when i start it back up it runs fine for a while then starts acting up again, i tried to hold the throttle wide open to see if it would throw a code, in the process of doing so, my digital screen went blank then two sets of dotted lines, one on top of the other appear on the screen, so i shut the car off, start it up again then the screen appears normal. anyone with any suggestions, tips, or cures, your help is greatly needed!!
Ther eis a recall on some of the 01's for the fuel pump. Check with your dealer and see if you car falls under the recall.
Other than that it could be a vaccuum problem, bad coil pack, plugs, plug wires, throttle position sensor, DPFE sensor(that would most likely throw a cod if it was that bad).
thanks for the input, my mechanic pretty much told me the same thing, not to put his knowledge down, i'm one to keep looking for answers, oh well, looks like its off to the dealer i go, by the way, i noticed your pic of the view from the back of the truck, have you put any vids on myspace? if so those are some cool vids! thanks again!

Don't be fooled. That's his back yard!
I agree that your symptoms could be nearly any of the things mentioned. The only thing I can think of is to do a methodical check to isolate the cause. Something that hasn't been said is bad gas. If the station where you filled up was nearly empty, and the gas level was at the bottom of their tank, you might have picked up some debris or water.

That actually is in my back yard. Well sorta. I live right next to a fire access road that leads out to one of the largest swamps in NH.
No videos. I don't do too much offroading as I don't truly trust the old toyota frame to handle a true beating in the woods I drove out there durring a huge flood and funny thing was the swamp wasn't flooded but somthing like 10+ towns around Southern NH were flooded out and closed down.
