Hey, i was browsing around the the internet and came across FocusPerformance.com. I found something in there that was pretty friggin cool. Apparently some guy in Old Market, VA will drop a 342 V8 Stroker motor into your Focus. (for the right amount of money of course.) I don't know how much it costs, but it is said to produce 450hp, and 430lbs. I don't know how feasible it would be for someone to do this on a daily driver. But i was sitting here trying to imagine the look on someone's face whenever the light turns green, and the Focus he's, (or she) is sitting next to suddenly just flies away! I can't wrap my pea-sized brain around the concept. It sounds like it would be FUN to do. I don't know though, maybe the swap just for show. They do have a few pictures aready. I CANNOT imagine how much fun i would have in one of those. %@#&**^$%@#* What's next now?! D1 Grand Prix Focus?? haha! But no, on a more serious note now. Does anyone know anything about this swap. I know this much. The car is converted to rear wheel drive via a 1964 Ford Falcon rear end. It gets adjustable coilover suspension. the stock fuel tank gets removed and replaced with a 16gal cap. fuel cell. An Optima battery gets installed in the trunk beside the fuel cell. And a few other mods as well. Well if anyone knows anything about this post something. -_-
there have been numerous v8 swaps into the focus, there was a terminator focus with a 4.6L supercharged cobra v8 in it, as well as the one that you see there, there have also been a number of v6 swaps both from cougars and SVT contours. It is feasible, and in some cases, quite reliable, 'cept for all the tires you have to buy.
There was a focus I saw last year at a Ford fun night car show or something put on locally. One of my customers locally owns a SVTf and invited me to come so I showed up. There was a V8 focus there at that time. Rear wheel drive, dual exhaust, the whole shebang. I dont know what kind of power it was making, but Im sure it wasnt something to sneeze at.
I know, early one after I had first bought my Focus that I went to a local meet and there was someone from Oklahoma City that had a V8 Focus and it was equipped with nitros as well. I saw a couple videos of it and it was quite the mean car.

It whines a lot, but I like it
Ya the V8 swap is bad ass. I saw Ford Motor Company's Focsu with the new cammer (SOHC) V8 in it. It was real nice. I saw it run the auto-x course set up at the Tire Rack (South Bend location) for the 05 Focaljet event.
I can tell you this much. The conversion kit alone costs about $10G than you need to find a motor and rear end to put into it and maybe a few other pars like fuel cell, drive shaft. I can't remember exactly comes with the kit but the kit is basicly everything to convert the car to be rasy to drop in the drivetrain.
I beleve the car RPIJG is talking about is one where they took a brand new 03 Focus SVT and brand new 03 Cobra and put all the Cobra drive train into the Focus and got the cobra ECU and Focus ECU to talk to each other. Not counting the cost of the cars the swap costed somthing like $60G.
I believe thare are like 10-20 V8 swaps in the US(maybe even US and Canada) right now.
