I don't feel like looking up info. Nor am i asking for any, but feel free to give advice.... My wonderful focus... Its an 01 S2. I have 58,7?? miles on it. Not a whole lot.... But it ALL of a sudden started dumping coolant all over the place. It appears to be the water neck. It also growls at me. Its rpm related. I'm assuming its the clutch/throwout bearing cause its affected by my clutch pedal and i can't think of anything else it could be. Well the growling's getting bad and the clutch is acting really touchy. Like its brand new or something. Its odd. So i ordered a clutch kit online and am going to replace it and fix the coolant leak at the same time... and the serpentine belt and rear main seal... and maybe the timing belt, if i decide if it'll be easier to pull the motor rather than just drop the entire front suspension to pull the tranny by itself. Yay. More work.

Might want to do water pump also. Water pumps grawl... well ones on V8's do.

The water neck going into the side of the block(drivers side) seems to be a problem with some people. You might need to get a whole new neck going into the block.

Yeah. I drive to work and back. I had a company truck in Fl (till sept 04) and since i've been in okieville i have no desire at all to drive around these people so i stay at home. Okies drive like they're driving horse and buggies. Its my lack of miles that bothers me about my leakage. Funny thing is... it hasn't barely leaked in the past couple days...

So i'm too lazy to go to the local auto parts store and order a clutch for my focus so i ordered one online. From car-stuff. Of course since they're an online store, they just order from vendors and the vendors mail the stuff out. So far I've gotten an extra rear main seal sent from a vendor across the country from the first seal vendor and an email today stating since they're out of stock on the clutch, i'm getting a refund to my credit card and should see it in 2-3 days... I got the clutch 3 days ago... Hmmm....

Got the money back.... So a free clutch and rear main.... Retarded. I wonder when they're gonna figure this all out... They better not charge me for that rear main! I only ordered 1 and i'm not spending any money to send it back!

For the couple of bucks to ship back the extra rear main, do it.
I got double shipped a camera lens and sent the extra one back. The store manager called me back and still sends me the odd email asking if I still have the camera and then sends me a freebie piece here and there. Guess his inventory system is one that would have been a serious bear to work through and find where the discrepancy was.

I would if it weren't only a $20 piece. I don't think it was even that much. But crap. I don't want it. If i had known what it was, i wouldn't have opened it and made ups take it back.

HOLY CRAP! You have to take EVERYTHING off to get that tranny off! Granted, its my first time with the focus so it's taking 5 times as long as it should but geez! All the toyota's i've owned were built to be easy to fix. I can change the clutch on a mk1 Mr2 in probably 3 hours. This thing was built like its supposed to be discarded when broken. And here's a pic of the issue with my water neck. I'm pointing at the broken part. The o-ring in that spot had a hole in it too. Stupid plastic crap. I'm gonna jbweld it.

See how my finger kinda looks funny around the nail? I cut off the side of it in a food slicer 10 years ago, slicing bell peppers. You can see the scar in the picture too.

I had an idea. Since i have a billion pieces of copper pipe around here, I wondered if i had something that would fit inside to reinforce the plastic crappy ring thing. Since that seems an easy point of failure. Well, turns out that the outside edge of a 1 1/2 id elbow fits perfect with a little massaging with a hammer. The elbow has an 1 3/4" od. So i jb welded it around the inside before insertion and then jbwelded around the top. I'm gonna fill in where the plastic is chipped before i reinstall it.

So the fixed water neck has worked! Yay! I jbwelded and sanded it to where you couldn't tell it was ever broke. I reused the old gasket too. A new one cost $8! And its just a flat o-ring. I ordered one anyway just in case, but the old ones working. And the new clutch is smooth as silk. I still have a weird noise issue but at least its not the clutch. I had an issue with shifting, but it takes less than 10 minutes to adjust the cables and now everything (except the weird noise) works as good as new. That was enough working on the car for a while. I'll deal with that stupid noise later. Its probably a bearing somewhere.  Here's a pic without my tranny!
