I'M WANTING TO DO AN ENGINE SWAP IN MY 2001 ZTS SEDAN, I'M INTERESTED IN SWAPPING MY ZETEC FOR THE SVT POWERPLANT. I KNOW I WILL HAVE TO REPLACE THE ECU BUT AM UNSURE ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION AND SENSORS. ANY INFORMATION ON THIS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.
there is a lot of work to be done there. you need the complete wiring harness, axles, rear end or fab a part up for the e-brake....good luck with the swap.....I am doing a 5L Cobra motor swap in mine....cant wait till its done..

What exactly is a 5L Cobra motor? I believe he's talking about a V8 swap. Thats another whole story on a swap. $10K+ with kits out there, but you get one hell of a sleeper.
As for a SVT motor swap. I believe you would just need the motor, ecu, engine harness and possibly header back exhaust. Its the same Zetec block so the MTX75 should bolt right up to it and there is no need to change the axles. Now if you have an automatic than you will want the SVT tranny as well(unless you plan on beefing up the auto) and that involves the new axles and I believe some new tranny mounts. The rear shouldn't need to be touched unless your also putting on the SVT rear disc's.
but like the 2.3L swap mentioned in another thread add on's to a Zetec and/or FI can get you up to or past the power of the stock SVT motor. Money might be about the same to upgrade or swap.
Just my . I'm sure it can be done, and if were me, I'd just look for a Focus that had what I wanted. It's a LOT of money, and a LOT of work, and a HUGE hassle. Not only will you end up with a car that has cost you a fortune, but for the $$ you could modify your ZTEC enough to embarrass the hell out of an SVT. I don't have a fortune in mine, and I can't remember being beaten by an SVT. Ever.

You need the tranny also, the MTX75 will not bolt up to the SVT engine, the SVT uses a Getrag 6 speed tranny. There is ALOT required to do an SVT engine swap, and in the end I'm not sure if it ends up being worth it, for less than what it would cost you can toss on some FI, and have better power.
i really am set on using the SVT header, flex pipe and cat, will i have to use the o2 sensors from the SVT since they are placed differently on the ZETEC or will i have to use adapters to replace the ZETEC o2 sensors, i found a wrecked SVT with 37k on it, they asking $750 for the motor, ECU, harness, everything in the engine compartment. it also comes with a CARFAX report on the car. my pockets aren't deep, but they're not shallow. i will build my ZETEC, but if its not too expensive, i'll do the SVT swap, before i forget, is the SVT fuel pump the same as my ZETEC?

Your O2 sensors will work, you might have to lengthen the wires but they'll work.
I'd say if you can get the whole shebangabang for $750, and you have a good idea what you're doing, go for the SVT swap.
You will need the SVT flywheel and clutch too, just an FYI.
