Stiffer bushings make the car handle better by removing flex from the suspension system. As the car gets older the stock bushings start to break down and the ride becomes sloppy.

This is true.
As is the statement from Joe - he has replaced almost all bushings in the suspension of his ZX3 save for 1 or 2 of them and since then, it creaks...drives great and handles even more like it's on rails, but creaks.

I'm just looking to see if the coil spring bushing does anything worth while. I don't really want to go through the hassle of all the other bushings at this point, but that one is pretty easy to do if you are doing a suspension installation
they shouldn't creak or squeak if enough grease is used. I changed all the old rubber bushings on my mr2 and there are no squeaks. you can feel and hear all the bumps a lot more especially cause its an older car. it does make it handle a lot tighter.

Dan added the grease provided as well, but after a short time, the creaks happened and when it rains the squeak and creak goes away...Dan has gotten more lubrication from Eibach, but their customer service line sucks...not helpful at all.
He's taken the ZX3 off the road already and has to drop the suspension and re-grease to see if that will work.
I can say, it has stiffened up the ride substantially.

Joe I say do the rear Isolator bushing. Nothing like going stifferand having a rubber bushing bring you back to stock bounce......
The squeaking may even be just my rear sway bar that I put no lube on.... Funny thing is the squeek is not heard on the highway except occasionaly and in the rain it is non existant...
I'm not doing it yet, I just ordered them, and I probably won't plan on having it done until after the 15th (next payday) I have someone who will pick my car up, do the work and then drop it back off. I like that idea. Are you coming down for the G2G this weekend?
There both the same but I think prothane is a bit cheaper. Also when I called prothane about the squeak they were pretty cool about it and sent more grease to help fix the problem.
I got prothane's. The most common thing you hear about those bushings is the squeak. its always a lack of grease. The only thing that shouldn't be greased is the steering rack bushings if they even make those for the focus.
I have the rear spring isolators (as well as front control arm bushings). They don't squeak, nor can I see how. The spring sits inside of them, and doesn't rotate. Ungreased rotating pieces inside of a regular polyurathane bushing can create squeaks.
What they will do for you is firm up your suspension some more. Normally, small bumps in the road will compress the foam isolator first, so the ride is smooth. This won't compress no where as much, so your spring will start to work sooner. I felt no difference in the ride with these.
