with the RS fenders you can do a bunch of things but I think you wouldn't want to go much lower than 2" at the most.

2in sounds great. so im a little lost on what parts to get for that drop. can i get the svt suspension with a .5 drop and then exchange the springs for a 2in lowering? does the struts make a huge difference on the drop?

your best bet is to get a set of matched springs and dampers.  Otherwise you'll run the risk of the dampers (shocks and struts) blowing out much sooner.  For 2" of drop you could look at something from Eibach or H&R.

here's one kit from ford that does 1.5" and it's all matched.  not nearly as cheap as the SVT kit though, it claims to be a good step up performance wise

I think the EBay "coilovers" work differently on different cars.  I had a 2000 Neon with the EBay "coilovers" and the ride actually wasn't that bad.  I've actually considered getting some for the focus.

I've been told the '06's have different springs... can I still use the old Focus aftermarket springs or not?

06's are different you can't use springs from any aftermarket application that was designed for 05 and before.  Stinks, but I imagine someone is working on new stuff to fit the 06 stuff.
