I am looking for a clutch for when im turbo.  what is a good one to go with.  i want one that can handle the power easily but not be too harsh, this is my daily driver.  whats out there and how much?  at the same time i put the clutch in im donig lsd and alluminum flywheel to save labor costs cause i dont want to mess with the tranny.  that will be a fun brake in period.

We've shelled out 2 clutchmasters stg IV 4 pucks in the last 2 years, they came apart. No customer service to help either. I say stay away from em, they held like a beeyotch, and pedal was pretty close to stock.

I've since switched over to spec. They offer two stg III's that will hold the kinda tq you'll be making unless you're pushing 20+psi. The 6 puck is very good feeling, and is rated to the same tq as the 4 puck. That's what I'm going with in the nitrous car. The quality appears to be better than the cm, and they include a pp, clutch disk, alignment tool and a completely new slave cylinder and throwout bearing assembly. I've gotten quick replies from them every time I emailed and they've sat for an hour at a time twice with me on the phone patiently answering all my questions. Customer service sells me. I told him I'll be turning 8k+ rpm's and expressed concern that it might not hold or might not disengage at that kinda revs. He didn't flinch, said "it'll hold, I guarantee it" then he went on to say "if it doesn't, we'll make it right" which bought my business with all our cars from this day forward.

yup, I was going to say Spec. I think the 6 puck you refer to is the Stage II/III hybrid isn't it? I know the Spec stage III is pretty rough, I've been in a turbo focus with that before, and let me tell you that was no picnic. Either way, I would say a Stage II would be good enough. A stage III is a bit rugged.

nope, stage III comes in two variations now, 4 puck and 6 puck. The 4 puck grabs a lot harder, and is like you say, more harsh. the 6 puck was designed for those who want the same tq rating but a smoother engagement. That's why I went with it. I'll be putting down about 350 on the bottle, and the spec guy assures me it'll hold and keep holding.

i don't deal with cm anymore. we put one of their clutches in the turbo car, it shelled out, we upgraded and it held, but when we disassembled once it was coming apart and we bitched and they fixed it. then it exploded and they did nothing. Then my n/a car had the same clutch, it came apart too and took the alum flywheel and trans housing with it. I called and bitched again, told them we were good longstanding customers and they need to take care of us, it's purely product failure, not abuse. They had me mail it all to them, kept it for 2 months then told me sorry you're out of luck.  I won't give them another dollar ever again

If you're gonna turbo, you'll prolly need more than a stg II can provide.  It's basically a little step up from stock. The stg I is a stock replacement.  I like the look of the new spec one, they're reasonably priced and come with parts cm does not come with like slave cyl and throwout bearing. From talking to the guys on the phone, it seems like they take pride in their product and will do what it takes to keep happy customers.
