Well, I've just gone over the thousand mile mark on the Goodrich TAs.
Little background first.
I have 3 sets of rubber at all times.
1 set for serious snow/ice. 1 set for summer pavement flat out.
1 set for general all weather and long haul gravel. This is the tire that I'm referring to in this note.

The car came with the Firestone Firehawks. Replaced those with General Exclaims and just now replaced those with Goodrich Radial TA.

The Firestones were junk. Both of the tire sets that I replaced the Firestones with were substantially better.

Comparative impressions between the Generals and the TAs

I haven't had the BFGs out in hot weather yet. Ambient temp range has been from -30 to + 60F

Snow/ice. BFG a little better.
Transition. Generals quicker.
Braking dry. Generals a little better
Braking Gravel. BFG a little better.
Braking wet. Generals by a small margin.
Noise. about the same.
At the edge long sweeper at full song. General by a little.

I think that the BFGs have a slightly harder compound and initial tread depth is a little deeper on the BFG.

All in all not a bad general use tire so far for being relatively inexpensive.

Glad you like'em. I have around 10K on mine & I really like'em a lot. 'Course, I'm comparing them with the stock Firehawks. I also agree with your opinion on those.

Some of my decision to buy a set of the BFGs was based on your opinion.
thanks.
Did you find that the transitions quickened up a bit as the tread depth decreased a little?

It's hard to tell. I got these in late Aug., so the tread depth was esentially new for the rest of the "dry" months. I think they're great in the snow for being an all season tire. I guess I really won't have an opinion on transitions until the snow is gone in a couple of months.

I agree that they have a fairly hard compound & substantial tread depth.
