dang it... already ordered other pads since i read that mintex produce lots of dust. That figures... could have gotten pads and rotors for 113. Oh well. Still might get those, save teh pads for another day or maybe sell em on ebay or something.

Gonna call BAT in a little bit. Looks like gonna have EBC greenstuff pads with EBC standard rotors. sound like a good mix?

Yeah, that sounds good. EBC's have a good rep. I have read a few posts elsewhere that complained about them coming unglued/unbonded, but I gotta believe that's rare.  Standard rotors are a good choice too. The slotted, drilled, paisley, plaid, houndstooth, lacy ones are just for show.

I have the mintex pads & have NO dust. Because it rained 29 of 31 days in May, I went a very long time between car washes. It was over a month. At the end of that time, there was absolutely no difference in color between my front & rear wheels.

I have 4 wheel discs on my 2001 ZX3 and changed over to Mintex at about  35K miles. I now have 83.5K miles and plenty of brake pad left. They are silent and as someone said almost dust free.  Also, if you are going to upgrade the rotors don't get cross drilled and slotted. Get just slotted unless ypou are going to race alot.

For everyday driving slotted is just fine.

I'm taking your advice for upgraded brakes. Brembro rotors and Mintex pads.

Which Mintex pads are best in your opinion (s)? The 1144's?

I'm looking for upgraded performance, but I do street and highway in los angeles (can be rough).

Thanks guys for great info!

I'm saving for a clutch, but I'm also going to get myself some EBC and Standard Rotors.  I don't race or do enough hard braking to warrant anything more so far as the rotors are concerned.

I love Poke's new "accent" color! hehe!

If you do any street and highway driving get the A/F... the 1144's are strictly race pads, and should only be used if you regularly change rotors and pads.

I got the BAT Inc. combo like Mr. V with the standard rotors and A/F Mintex pads for $113.  Installed them today and it was just in time.  There was about 1/64 of an inch of material left on the pads.  Amazingly, the car still stopped pretty good, but every now and again I could hear them working extra hard - not exactly a grind but similar.

Anyway, the new pads and rotors were really easy to install and the difference is amazing.  I only need to press the brake pedal about a tenth as far as before for the pads to engage.  There is no brake noise at all.  Way too early to comment on the dust factor though.

Thats the deal I got too when i finally went for the brakes. Good deal and great rotors. I didnt put the mintex pads on with the rotors though (had already bought the other pads) but all and all... BAT offers up a GREAT deal for breaks. I would highly recommend it to anyone else lookin to change out the pads and rotors :)  and the stopping now... always nice :)
