I ordered the 215/40/18 tires last night from tirerack and they just called me this morning saying that what I ordered is about an inch higher than what they usually recommend. They probably arent even taking in account that the car is lowered ~.75" So I put the shipment on hold. Can anybody with 215/40/18 size tires confirm asap if they will fit, rub, or bottom out? Thanks

These are just calcs, I don't have 18" wheels, but here we go.

The stock wheels + tires are ~24.25" overall diameter.
Your wheels and tires will be ~24.75" overall diameter.
That means there is a difference of ~.5" diameter,or ~1/4" radius.

Now, this will also depend on wheel offset, as most 18's do rub somewhat on a lowered Focus as it is. Where it will rub will be dependant on the wheel offset, which I'll assume is going to be either 45mm or 40mm.

You're probably going to rub a little on the fender. But unless you are going over some major bumps, potholes, small children, etc. you don't have too much to worry about.

HOWEVER- I would reccommend that if you CAN get a shorter tire, a 35 series or a 30 series, DO THAT! Rubbing is BAD.

Or if that isn't possible, a 17" wheel with a 40-series tire would knock a whole inch off the wheel diameter, which would clear you of any possible rubbing issues.

But if you must have those wheels, and those tires, then you may have some fender rub when you go over bumps / very hard braking.

The red ZX5 is an SVT with a drop. He has 35 series tires in the second pick with 18's
